My uncle had a 89' S10. He always talks about it when we talk about cars that they used to own. he has bought it and then through Everything at it. He slammed it, all new suspension all the way around, took the V6 out and bored and built it. then he re-did the interior in red. Then he bought some kind of Land Rover blue and had his brother put ghost flames on it. he had but some American racing 5-spoke chrome rims on it ( which his mom has on her 60's-70s's Impala). And he also had painted flames on the taillights. I only have seen one picture of it, and its astonishing. He got rid of it and a few years ago he actually happened to stumble across it at a cars and coffee. He said that it was in really bad condition, and that he would've bought it back, but the guy priced it at 6 grand, and he said in the condition it was in, it wasn't worth that much. We were once talking and it came up and he had told me that out of all the cars he had, he would've kept that one, and that if he ever got the chance to buy it, he would scoop it up. Haven't seen it since, he said it's probably been crushed or sold for parts.

Its a shame all your photos are gone. I love the look of the Chevy s10's and Chevy blazers. Whats crazy is my blazer is like half the size of my moms 2012 Chevy Tahoe, as well as her Toyota sequoia.
We share the same love of the true mini trucks. 12 years ago I was driving a Blazer ZR2. One of the most fun vehicles I owned.

Here's a cool pic of my ZR2 back in 2013 spliced with a pic of my current Jeep Renegade in 2024. Same trail. Same mountain in the background.

12:1 414cid LSx with nitrous. I’ve done probably 20 of these trucks with 23deg SBC’s, as well as LSx motors..

I want to LSx or just LS swap it, but I don't know if that's the right way to go. Any recommendations? I want to keep a 4 gear tranny, and potentially straight axle swap the front.
There is no shortage of LSx swap parts for an S10. Run whatever trans you want. Whatever rear you want, whatever suspension you want. Those trucks were like belly buttons-everybody had one.. 😉

Hedman & JTR (Jag’s That Run) were two of the solid suppliers for mounts, and headers years ago. Hooker/Holley has you covered today for sure. There are also several other big name companies (Stainless Works) if you desire something less common; like a through the rails longtube.. You’ll be doing a LOT of your own homework to get there obviously, but you’ll have no problem finding the parts you need.

I'm pretty happy with my purchase besides what I wanted about in the rant thread.
Just read it. Does anybody else know that the 80s and 90s chevy's are prone to electrical issues? I remember reading it somewhere and i remembered it after I heard you have electrical issues. 1. if your doorlights are always on, have you tried turning them off manually? if you have, some cars actually have a fuse for the dome lights and stuff like that, so just pull that. You might not have any interior lights, but its better than waking up to a dead battery. 2. if your check engine light is not working, that's most likely a tell tale sign that that bulb has been HEAVILY used (if you catch my drift). Or I could be wrong and you could just have another wiring issue. You said it doesn't drive good? one of the reasons why would probably not run well is because of the airbox. Did they take just the box or the box and the intake tube that leads to the throttle body? usually fuel injected cars have a mass airflow sensor, but that didn't come on a 95 blazer, that came out the next year. instead this one has a intake air temperature sensor (IAT). If the IAT sensor fails, it can cause drivability issues such as a rough idle, poor fuel economy, or hesitant acceleration. also I have the same electrical problems on my truck too! 2001 Toyota tundra Access Cab, 2wd, 4.7l V8. My interior dome lights don't work. If I mess with the cargolight button, the cargo light stays on, draining the battery. unlike your check engine light, mines always on! its been on for at least 12 years! its just an O2 sensor tho. I'm not paying $125 for that! also my rear window leaks. I had replaced it with a stationary window. we put 2 full tubes of that window caulk or whatever its called. And it still leaks! It might have structural damage. My point is, don't stress! these are all just tiny fixes. yeah it might be a lot, but who needs dome lights? As long as you can here the little ticking of the blinker you should be fine. if a turning signal is out, it will tick fast. Hope this helps!

My cargo light stays on when I turn it on! I finally got my engine light to turn on, and now it stays on. And, I can't read the codes because its some stupid setup where it uses an obd2 connector, but runs on obd1 software. I've tried everything, but nothing works. Plus, I think the guy we bought the car from gutted the cat, as it smells like sulfur and gas when idling, and is abnormally loud. My reading lights on the rear view mirror are disconnected, because when you plug them in, they stay on even when using the switches! And the top dome light, there isn't a bulb in there. And the light under the hood is disconnected too, because it doesn't shut off, but idk if it should or not.

The light under the hood turns on and off when you open and close it.
You know the littlr guy that lives in your fridge who turns the light on and off when you open the door???
Its that guy's cousin who turns the hood lights on. 😉👍

I've tried it, and it doesn't shut off. The little guy must be sleeping or drinking on the job! 🤪

Also @Lukedavis i thought you said you’d picked up a ‘95 when i first read your post-so i shared one of my 2nd Gen trucks. Here’s one of the Gen1 trucks I did:

Another LSx deal. Muuuuuuch milder than the black truck. Was a killer little DD..

@Lukedavis you just need a code reader, or scan tool that is designed for an OBD1 DLC. You won’t be able to do much with the OBD2 DLC in the passenger compartment.
They are either stupid expensive, or stupid expensive lol

And largely required in most electronically Injected vehicles…🤷🏻‍♂️

If ya don’t wanna shell out the cashola for doing proper diagnostic work, then you can also simply jump the terminals on your DLC, and count the flashes the MIL (malfunction indicator lamp) produces in the KOEO (key on, engine off) position. 😉

Number one thing on the priority list for any used vehicle should be a Chiltons, or Haynes manual IMO. Absolutely invaluable. Either will walk you through jumping the terminals on the DLC. 🤘

I tried the terminal jumping but it didn't work
