Just got a new to me car!!! Its a 1995 Chevy S10 Blazer 4x4! its got the 4.3L Spyder injected v6 vortec engine! I also got the deal of the century, as my mechanic guy had a brand new rough country 2.5 inch lift kit, as well as all new steering stuff! The steering stuff and lift kit are $700 new in total, and they have never been used! I got the lift and steering stuff for $100!! I'll post pics when I get home, as we have a phone rule that all of Oregon has to follow, where we can't have them on us, and they have to be in our back packs. Some schools have these things called yonder pouches, which is a kevlar pouch with a magnetic lock that only a teacher can open. So dumb...
Very cool.

I can’t recall what year model it was, maybe 92’ model, I had a couple S10 blazers back in the 80s and early 90s.
I had a 2 door and later a 4 door.

My cargo light stays on when I turn it on! I finally got my engine light to turn on, and now it stays on. And, I can't read the codes because its some stupid setup where it uses an obd2 connector, but runs on obd1 software. I've tried everything, but nothing works. Plus, I think the guy we bought the car from gutted the cat, as it smells like sulfur and gas when idling, and is abnormally loud. My reading lights on the rear view mirror are disconnected, because when you plug them in, they stay on even when using the switches! And the top dome light, there isn't a bulb in there. And the light under the hood is disconnected too, because it doesn't shut off, but idk if it should or not.
for the obd port ai says, "A 1995 Chevy Blazer has a unique, transitional OBD1.5 system, which uses an OBD-II-style 16-pin connector but functions on OBD-I protocols. This means a standard OBD-II scanner will not work to pull codes, and you will need a specialized OBD-I.5 tool or to use a manual code retrieval method, such as the check engine light (CEL) method, by grounding the diagnostic terminal." this is probably why it fits but doesn't read codes. And then it gives you a step by step process to manually get the codes:
-Locate the diagnostic port under the dash.
-Use a jumper wire or paper clip to ground the diagnostic terminal (specifically, the A and B terminals, located in the upper right corner of the port).
-Turn the ignition on but do not start the engine.
-The "Check Engine" light will flash a diagnostic mode code (e.g., code 12), followed by any stored trouble codes, repeated three times each.
-Consult a code list online to interpret the flashes.
Now this isn't really specific on which ports to jump so I'll just keep digging. also when jumping the ports the check engine light will flash. I don't know if you know this or not so I'll just leave that in here.

That system only works for the obd1 port. There are no pins in the a and b slot, and I've tried multiple times. I think i'll just go to a chevy dealer and see if they can read the codes for me.

Yeah that sounds like the best bet. they'll probably have the reader. Hopefully they won't charge you an arm and a leg for it...

I'm not sure what tge solution is but finding a way to read the codes yourself is WAY better than paying someone else a diagnostic charge every time a light comes on. Esp in a rough cind truck!

Do some homework and get your hands dirty!!! 👍😎

I've been researching for the last 2 days. I've had the whole car torn apart trying things. Nothing has worked. I have a Haynes manual for 1993, but its not going to match up to my car.

Rome wasn’t built in a day-and it takes time, and patience. If it didn’t; errrrrrrrybody would be doing it.. 😉
I did buy a bunch of new parts for it, should be getting here today!

Start by finding the right manual.
I bought the factory service manuals for my Envoy.
Now, if the dealer can mook it up, so can I.

Your info IS out there!
Have you joined an S10 forum yet?

Have you figured out which code readers DO read your truck???

Have you found the correct manuals yet?

Check craigslist and ebay too. I found my manuals on CL and bought them for under $100 for the set.
Maybe someone is selling the exact code reader that you need... cheap too. 😉

I know this isn't super easy but its not as difficult as all this either. 😎👍😁

The number one scanner that works that I've found is between $400 and $1,000 used . Its a snap on. That's the one everyone says works. I just don't have that kinda money. If I did, I would just replace everything with obd2 from a 1996 or 1997.

If I understand correctly, this is an obd1 system with obd2 plug? Seems like an adapter could fix this issue but I'm goung by what I see on the webs, not because I've tried it.
You are correct, its an obd2 plug with an obd1 system
