We fixed one of our tv's watching a you tube vid. Turned out I just needed to solder in a couple of new capacitors. Took less than an hour and was less than $10.00. I figured I had nothing to lose at that point.

I currently find myself in a similar situation, one of the lightbulbs in the bathroom went out. The problem I'm coming across is that I can't remember the punchline to go with "How many Doom's does it take to change a lightbulb?" 🤣 🤣 🤣
Back in 2012, I had an old 55in TV that the remote stopped working on (Remote was not the issue) just a couple of months before the extended warranty ran out. When they came out to fix it, they started replacing the main board and I was like, "Why are you guys starting with the main board? It would be cheaper to start with replacing the IR sensor board first rather than jump straight to the main board, given that the remote wasn't working but the TV itself worked fine." They replied, "Oh no, no, no, the main board is almost always the problem, and we're sure this will have you up and running in no time!" Well that didn't work and after 2 months of fighting with the stupid warranty place they finally paid out $650 on the TV and called it a done. At this point I went on eBay and bought a used IR receiver board for $9 and that same TV is the TV that is still working and hanging in my hobby room to this day! I wish I could have called those guys up and said, "I told ya so!" lol

Oh, and it still has the replacement main board in it. :)

I'm at the tire place waiting for Mrs. X's new tires. Down the road is Best Buy, where I had paid for the new TV earlier. Called my son to come out with the minivan and we loaded up the TV. He dropped me back off at the tire place, and he went home with the TV. This 85" tv is a lot heavier than the 70" its replacing.
I went with the TCL brand QLED type. With a 5 year extended warranty, it was under $980, and I get 12 months to pay off, interest free.

Happy birthday to you... 🤣

I would have much rather spent the money on r/c, airguns, or firearms.
...but in this case you'll make an exception... 🤣 Seems like a low price for a giant tv👍 Can you turn it to the left just slightly and duck down a bit? You're blocking the score! 🤣

You can see the pimples and hair and texture on her cheeks huh? 😝🤪😁😆

It took me awhile to figure out how to disengage the old TV from the Sanus tv wall bracket. Finally figured it out, then as I'm installing the wall brackets to the new tv, I come to find out that I'll have to go find longer screws to make this work. Hopefully, the local hardware store in town will have what I need.
At least now, I've got the software updated and all the remotes paired.
Nice picture quality for an entry level tv. At least, compared to the older Sony that stopped working.

Rant for today:
I have a USPS notification setup on my phone - Bugs Bunny saying "Special delivery from Mars".

I'm working at my PC and hear the notification. Drop what I'm doing and put my coat on. I'm still in my shorts. I brave the blistering cold of 2°F and go out to get my mail. Nothing!

I walk back inside, extremities shrunken to the point of non-existence. Check my phone and it's the 3rd notification saying "Out for delivery" 🤬

Take off my coat and back to the PC I go. As soon as I sat down I get another notification that says delivered. Grrrrr

so I'm working with 45 gauge wire. AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rage:
If you saw the wiring that needs to be done on this 32nd scale Orlandoo Hunter camper trailer I have yet to assemble you'd be thanking your lucky stars 😝

idk. i just had to wind 27000 turns of 45 wire onto a half inch diameter bobbin. now i have to solder leads on. put the coil back in the mechanism, solder the leads to the terminals. and put the mechanism back together. which involves reinstalling without bending a 1/32" pin. all without breaking something.

Good luck! Reminds me of electricity shop class in school where we all spent a week winding a coil to make a stupid buzzer for our projects 🤣

Isn't it more or less like the finest thread in the Emporers New Clothes story?
Couldn't you just as easily hand them an empty bobbin snd acted all proud like because only you can see it? 🤣

as long as they never pass current through it i could. i don't even know what these things go to, but a lot of what i do is infrastructure related so its probably not a good idea.
