I stopped selling on eBay when I got scammed on a transmitter. I even had a link to YouTube showing it working and everything. Two days after it arrived, the buyer started a return claiming it was broken and sent me back a completely different remote. I also stopped selling on Mercari because the fees are crazy now.
I used to sell used auto parts. I have seen and heard just about every scam or trick there is to try and scam a seller.
The difference being, no middle man ebay.
I warrantied my parts for 91 days. I was good about testing my parts so I knew what I was selling.
If I sold a fender, I went to the fender and noted any dents or rust that might be an issue with the shop buying it.
Being thorough counts.
Also there was the fact that it all had to be done in person. Scumbags find it easy to hide behind a computer screen and start problems. Not so much when its face to face and I might just hit back.
I also wouldn't hesitate to grab a hammer to put a big dent in that fender if someone was busting my balls, trying to grind me on my prices. "There you go. NOW its a $50 fender."
I went from that to installing pro audio and lighting.

Ebay return policies don't apply there either!
Funny though, we did an install for a club and it was a nightmare.
It dragged on forever because tgey kept changing the plans so ALL the equipment needed swapping to handle more rooms, channels, inputs etc...
Finally finished and now they are totally happy with the system!
Time to pay and they don't want to pay for the labor to adjust for all the changes they made along the way.
This means no pay for Mikey!
I told my boss there was no priblem.
I would be there in the morning to put ALL the gear and the 90 miles or wire we snaked in a big pile on their dance floor. Free!
We had our check that week.
Its the middle man and the protection/isolation that makes bad ppl doing bad things feel like there are no repercussions and nothing to loose.
Its a sh*tty double edged sword!
