so my idiot city has decided it was a good idea to repave both streets at then end of my street. got to the end of my street and can't turn ether direction they had both directions blocked. so i have to back down my street about 60 yards before finding an empty driveway i could back into to turn around. i go the other way, get to the corner and low and behold can't turn left or right there ether. i have to go straight. not a big deal except that the workers are standing around one of there cars with the door open blocking half the narrow street. so i have to weasel through that as they stand around and look at me like wtf you doing?. so anyway i finally get out of my neighborhood. 90 seconds later i had made a left I'm heading down a street with a 35mph speed limit, not a single damn car behind me and a Mercedes turbo diesel wagon from the 1700's makes a left in front of me and proceeds to go about 30mph...
You got Mercedes Bent! Yay!

California has gone full retard on it's traffic lanes. Since they have taken out lanes and turn lanes to add bike lanes that only one person uses, traffic is now backed up four times as far as it used to. Have to wait behind every one now that there aren't turn lanes. Seriously stupid.

Traffic used to back up about ten car lengths beween signals, now it can be backed up a mile or more, how in the heck is this better? It shouldn't take three or four times to make it through a light you used to make it through in one turn.

so yeah my 9 and a half mile commute to work took 35 minutes this morning.

Start driving a Sherman tank to work. People would move.

Remember Marvin Heemeyer? Killdozer? The guy who welded up a bulldozer with steel plates & poured it full of concrete & crushed a town after they pissed him off? A movie was made about it. Tread 2019.

down here that's called a "road diet". they did that on Spring Street along El Dorado park in Long Beach. it was 3 lanes now it's down to 2 for a bike lane that in the past year iv seen less than 10 people use. what's fun is the bike lane just kinda magically starts at the 605 freeway off ramp. technically it's there for the entrance/exit for the park, but cyclists don't use that entrance/exit. the bike trail runs along the the San Gabriel river on the other side of the park and has no street access unless you go through the park that's only open from 7am to dusk.
they added these dumb green safety ballards with reflective tape around the top of them down Studebaker rd. to divide the bike lane from traffic, residents hate them, they constantly get knocked down and have to be repaired/replaced. but here's the fun part. there are trees on the median between the bike lane and residential side of the street. the trees drop so much leaves and crap the city had to invest in a special street sweeper just for the bike lanes because the normal sweepers they have didn't fit between the median and ballards. during fall and winter the bike lane isn't useable a good 4 days of the week. anybody on a bike has always just stayed on the residential side of the median anyways so the whole bike lane was for nothing. it's been that way for about 5 years now, i could probably count the number of people iv seen in that bike lane on one hand.
Long Beach did a bike lane/bike right of way lane down on second street as well. for a while the business hated it cause it was messing with business. people hated it and weren't going down there. idk if that's still the case, i don't do down there cause it was already a cluster fricked mess.
Long Beach has also messed with it's traffic lights so you can't make them. they called it a "period of rest", allegedly to slow drivers down and curb road rage (it's had an opposite effect). they also have signals that stay red unless drivers obey speed limits, which they don't. and it's causing major traffic back ups.
now they're talking about putting in speed camera's in a few places.
Long Beach just does not want you to drive a car, period. when i was a kid back in the 90's this place was kinda cool. but the last 2 decades it's been slurping taco bell squirts right out of the brown eye.

this would have been me.

i did something along those lines when they repaved my street 2 years ago. they repaved the street and replaced all the driveways from the sidewalk to the street. when they were grinding the old asphalt up i didn't move my truck until i left for work at a quarter after 7. the sign posted said no parking 7am to 4pm. one of the workers told me if i did it again they would have it towed and him to F off no they wouldn't. when i got home there was equipment in my parking spot in the street so i ended up in my driveway that night. sure as hell 7am they started removing the steel plates that ran from the sidewalk to the street, my plates were the first ones to get removed. so i drove right through the hole :hehe: right in front of everybody. they're watching me do it like you a-hole.
couple days later they started paving at 7am. my street is kinda long and curves 90 degrees. they started at the furthest corner from me so i come walking out of my house at a quarter after 7. get in the truck. parking enforcement was coming around the corner as i drove off. i got home from work at 4:30 and came in from the side they started on. i ran a cone over and drove down the street and pulled into my driveway. idk if i left tire tracks but they ran the steam roller back down the street where i had driven :hehe: didn't do any noticeable lasting damage.

all because we were having major issues with car break ins at the time and i refused to park at the corner over night.

My rant. I spent alot of rc money on alcohol and eating out the last few years. I'm trying to curb that. SPentt 140 on an ebay card 5 weeks ago, for shoes and rc parts. The last 4 digits are missing. I went to two branches of the store I got it from. They both told me to contact ebay as they can't do cash back. All inwant is a working card, no refund. The second time the store contacted ebay and requested a call to me.

I never got a call. After time I found out how to have them call me. When they did it hung up as I answered. A week later I tried again. I got through and was told The store somehow disactivated the card. I sent proof to ebay of my damaged card. They emailed me back to go get the card reactivated.

This is why I've been absent from the what you bought thread.

The world has gotten so stupid when it comes to customer service. The bigger the company, the stupider it gets.

My morning rant...This damn hobby is too addictive!!

I woke up to pay my bills and when I got to my credit card where I put all my utilities to earn points...and where I also put my RC purchases...I was shocked...who made 4 trips to Hobbytown in August and who the hell ordered, not once, but twice from Injoura in a week...and also to Furitek? I rarely go on eBay or do anything with PayPal any more. There's too many finger pointing and run around to resolve issues.

The reason I went there is I dont really have anything close. I use them because there's no fees on the card and I don't have to worry about someone getting my card or bank info. But that might be changing.

This is an unfortunate reality. If the company is big and not based on good customer service, the alternative is that they are too big to give a good g#d damn about customer service and who's gonna sue???
THAT SUCKS!

When you earned more points at your hobby shop than you did at the gas station and grocery store combined... 🤣

My rant
The seal that I ordered on Thursday that was supposed to be ready to pick up on Friday NOW won't be ready for pick up until Tuesday.
Yes, thanks NAPA. Have a great weekend too. 😐
Also, Ford.

While I always prefer to buy American, the 2002 Toyota Tacoma I had was the best car/truck I've ever owned. I've driven nothing but Toyota's ever since (except stupid Camry's because I use to have to drive a lot). My next vehicle will be a truck and more than likely, a Tacoma or Tundra.

Before I do any business over the internet I look for vital information about the business:
  • Telephone number(s)
  • physical address
  • return policy
Amazing how many websites do not even tell us what country the business is in. I was talking to a lady that was bragging about her new chef job. I looked at the restaraunt's 6 page website. Menu, photos of staff, photos of food were there, but nowhere did it give the address, city, not even the state it is in.

I have been noticing that a lot more these days. Used to be, you go to a business website, and the phone number was right next to the company banner/logo at the top of the page. Now you can't find it without doing an investigative Google search. There are still some hobby shops I have dealt with that still take calls. That's always worth repeat business from me.

Years ago, I was picking up my kids from day care. While waiting, I started talking to a dad who had some sort of trade business I was looking into potentially hiring at the time. He hands me his business card, and all he put down for a name was, Bruce. No last name? Maybe this is the new norm and I'm just old fashion, but I am not hiring anyone that won't disclose their full name.
