If it has a fuel pump, remove the fuel line to the engine and put a line to a gas can. Turn the key a little so the fuel pump gets power. Hopefully it helps but this is probably too new for that.
cars a 71. it has a mechanical pump (for now).

ever sense 2020 nobody's open on weekends anymore. so i ordered something (car parts) and want to pick it up but i work from 8am to 4pm Monday - Friday, and and where i ordered form is open from 8am to 4pm Monday - Friday. (as told by the person i talked to on the phone) and shipping is close to $200 and it's literally 55 miles door to door. so instead of going and picking up my order on a Saturday morning when traffic is light, i have to take 3 hours off work and sit in work traffic to go pick it up.
another place i need to hit (a mile away from the first place) has the same issue. 15 years ago i went there on a Saturday morning. the last 5 years they haven't been open on weekends.
a third place i need to go spend money at also no longer open on weekends. been going there on Saturdays sense 2000. the last 5 they haven't been open on weekends.

like wtf, you can't run a skeleton crew form 9am to 1pm on Saturday for the locals with jobs? are we that dependent on mail order now?
It's probably just all of that sugar in the bottom of the tank. 😜

I think I want to sell all my stuff and call it quits. I’m more stressed than having fun, and I’m tired of things breaking the first time I try to use it. The zippers breaking on my travel bag is the final straw for me.

Yeah, I think I'm done. I just opened my lcd program box I bought a couple months ago and not only did they mess up the lettering on it, there's a long scratch on it. I'm going to return the $700 radio, (unless someone wants it) and work on and post everything else for sale in a classified thread. I just want it gone, and raise money for a different hobby. With all the money that I spend, I'm so tired of things either defective straight out of the box, or breaks the first time I use it. I don't think this is for me, and I need to follow my gut.

That's some serious OCD you got there. I have problems with it myself, but yours seems a bit more prevalent than mine. Sorry you're struggling, but hopefully you find something a bit more relaxing. I have had lots of hobbies over the years, and woodworking has to be the one I wish I could still do.

Had throw out 2 bottles of BSI tyre glue as they have both set in the bottle. 🙁

From now on, I'll only order glue when I need it.

I wonder if it would help if those ca bottles were to be stored in a Food Saver bag or container, where the air is sucked out of them?
We used to have a Food Saver system, way back, and they worked extremely well to preserve food.

Maybe. Or even a small zip lock bag.

I highly doubt a ziploc bag would work. You just can't get all the air out. I've tried taping opened nozzles of things like caulk, and it just ultimately still hardens.
I don't know which air molecule(s) is the curing component for adhesives like ca (perhaps oxygen?). A Food Saver system supposedly sucks all(?) the air molecules out.

The problem is the bottles, so your idea would likely help a lot. HDPE is what those BSI bottles are made of, which leeches gasses like oxygen. PET would be a much more ideal plastic for that simply because it doesn't leech gasses. But I think the crazy glue would melt PET. It's why crazy glue is typically sold in tinfoil tubes 😉

Good example...
Ketchup is sold in PET bottles because with HDPE plastic, and the leeching of ambient gasses it has, the ketchup would soon oxidize and spoil, just like a sliced tomato quickly does.

Mustard is sold in HDPE plastic bottles because it has better antibacterial properties that help it remain stable. Gasses don't affect it as badly.

You're thinking ChatGPT... I know. But years ago I did a very deep dive into plastic bottles for vape juice when I used to make it and sell it. I wrote up an entire tutorial on bottles, glass vs plastic, various plastics used, etc. Learned a lot.

I think I'm going to keep trying, but I am still going to take a break and still sell some things. I just don't want to feel rushed...

I've learned my lesson on buying larger quantities of glue as well. That rubber toughened stuff would have lasted longer in frig? 🤔 That is where I keep my CA glue when not in use.

Mrs Certified does the same. She keeps hoping I'll mistake it for sauce on a sandwich... shut me up for a day or 3. 🤣

Debating to buy Starrett calipers, they're like 1/3 the price of Mitutoyo's for same if not better performance according to Project Farm.
The Starrett's used to be really nice. But not anymore. The ones you are likely looking at will probably have a plastic bezel around the jewel. Those bezels, even when the clamp is tightened, will rock back and forth, moving your zero. They are crap.

The ones with the metal bezel are their economy line, made in China. At least that was how it was a few years ago.

Mitutoto calipers cannot be beat, as well as a lot of their other stuff. I was a huge fan of Starrett, with well over $10k worth of their tools. Trust me when I say, and it pains me to say this, but Starrett ain't what it used to be.

If you want some decent calipers, check out SPI. The last set I bought was really nice, and I still use them. But like I said - the Mitu ones are simply the best there it.

Huh. I see. Ironically I found the Mitu ones on Amazon for a decent price directly from Mitutoyo. Maybe I should get those instead.
