But knowing what was great can help better judge what could be great.🤓😅
They know whats great though... Most of these manufacturers know how to build a fast, bulletproof car. They can't SELL that car to a wide enough market at a high enough profit I'm guessing. No parts to replace...
I don't know how TLR will go about their line of "upgrades".
Like are we going to get plastic shocks and upgrade to metal or are we going to get tunable shocks with multi sized piston holes and different length shock shafts for actual racing?
Plastic tie rods or titanium?
There IS money to be made in selling GOOD upgrade parts for an "already good" platform.
It seems like Xray and PR Racing are doing well with this idea.
Associated might be doing it at least with the newest buggys too.

How many ppl are going to jump ship from their current teams to go with TLR/Horizon? It just feels like has been mentioned, sticking a good name on a bad car isn't going to last long in racing.
TLR might not recover from sub par releases.

How long will they offer parts support for their buggies?

Letting the parts supply dry up and forcing to buy new each year or 2 also sucks.

Where did you see that?

from the website, it would be cool if they were making a new monster truck platform but it doesn't look like it, i can't get a reply either way, they just say oic it has been discontinued, not sure why, i can't get high enough up the food chain to get an answer

iv noticed manufactures do that. its usually the electrics are out of production. so they "discontinue" the kit. then shortly there after announce the kit has been updated with new electrics and it'll have a new part number.
I hope so cause I really want one lol holidays make buying stuff I want a real pain

Seems the TLR stuff is where it’s at. Losi rtr are okay, nothing special. I dislike how Losi tends to group parts together and not sell stuff individually.
I have a 1/10 Lasernut, broke a shock piston, can’t buy just the pistons. Have to buy the whole kit of shock parts, pistons, seals, pivot balls.. even preload spacers. The Lastnut uses threaded preload collars? Why do I have to buy the plastic spacers? Dumb.

I gave up on Losi and Associated years ago. Both still make legit race kits, well I guess just Associated now, but honestly the rtr stuff they’re offering is weak at best IMO.
I never got into any organized racing, too much hassle/drama for me.
I like race kits to run at home, on a backyard track. Tekno is my current favorite. I have an Xray 1/8 buggy which is really nice and durable, but parts are pricey and not very popular.
Otherwise I have abunch of Arrma, TC and Traxxas rtr’s to abuse for fun.

I sure hope that is not a trend that started. I know the Rival MT10/Pro4 SC10 arms are sold as a complete four-piece front and rear set. A person can't just buy fronts or rears separately. Dumb.

That's it! I'm done with Horizon. Idiots.
Yeah, I don’t blame ya. These days I’m really only interested in their large scale offerings. I still enjoy my K6 and Mojave, but going forward I’m only buying 1/8 race kits or larger, such as the K8. It’s not perfect of course, but I really enjoy truggies the most. Wish someone would put out a true 1/5 truggy.. I know, I sound like a broken record LOL.

it's mostly all RTR stuff now. And you just gotta watch what you buy from brands that focus on RTR.
If you want the RC equivalent of cheap re-badge jobs, look at AEs RTR line-up. Lots of re-badged designs from other companies (Exceed, Redcat, Helion), and all of it priced higher than the competition.

I have no idea what this "Hook-it" is that Horizons working with, but it gives me a bad feeling. The last time that they partnered with another company their online store was crippled.

I have a hard time paying attention to them myself, I like AEs "Trophy Rat" SCT, but what the heck is an RC10 "Pokemon Green Edition"? And why does the Apex2 cost as much as an Arrma while riding on bushings and only accepting shorty-packs?

Losi? The Nascars kinda cool I guess, I wish it was 1:10 with proper electronics (not 2 in one junk). I'm not really into mini-scales nor their more expensive "super scale" offerings.

I don't race, and if I had to guess If anything has hurt RC racing over the years it's all of these sponsorships that make it into a "job".

I was trying to convince myself to pull the trigger on a new truck... Black Friday deals look good!
Tired of buying electronics that WILL end up on a shelf or in the trash.
I'm honestly not sure what the point of a plastic geared "high torque" servo is but there are plenty of rtr's that come with them. If they are anything more than a box that fills the hole until we buy a "good" servo, I'm missing it.
I am NOT impressed that my new rtr comes with an esc that is JUST strong enough to handle the stock motor and gearing...Worse still are the 2in1 receiver/esc combos. Now we can throw the radio in the trash too!
I'm not into filling landfills as quickly as possible with "working but sub-par" electronics!

What is Horizon "Hook-it"?
I searched quickly and got velcro strips! 🤣

Yeah, I don't pay much attention to the officially licensed stuff, such as the Hoonigan SR7. I mean sure, Ken Block is a legend, as is the Hoonigan Mustang, but aside from a pretty body, it's just a run of the mill Chinese RTR underneath. Right down to the Redcat diffs, hex adapters, shocks.. at $700? Nah, I'm good. The Losi Promoto is another fine example, or Lasernut.. RZR sidebyside.. sure, they look great, but I want substance for my money, not interested in sponsoring Pokemon or Thor racing on an RC, LOL.

If I could buy an actual scaled down Hoonigan, I'd be ALL over that!
I can buy a Hoonigan body, paint it up and slap it on the kits that I already own and love.
There is NO excuse for a brand like AE to be releasing $700 Redcats if thats indeed what they are.
AE has made me sad recently.

You're totally right about the partnering r/c and totally unrelated products too!
Although I might be swayed by a $2400 Gucci RC10 limited edition! 🙄🤮🤣

Kinda like buying a Carhartt or North Face coat with their logo's all over it. I buy it for the function and quality, not to promote their products, free advertisement after paying top dollar for it. I can't stand that, look at me with my Dork Face jacket that cost $$$.

I have to admit, most of the RTR parts I don't have a problem with, such as the electronics in my Kaiju or even the Kraton 8s. I mean the 4985 1250kv in the v1 RTR K8 is underwhelming with the stock tires, but with 7" buggy tires on a track, not bad. Same for the servo. I don't like to overpower my rc's as it generally just ends up costing more when I have to upgrade other parts to cope with added power. Guess I'm not the typical basher in this regard. I'd still prefer a kit over a poorly assembled RTR for sure though.

Dork Face! LMAO!!

I'll have to use that. I don't have one. No, wait, I have a gortex neck gaiter from them. Dammit. Now I'm a dork face :D

Pata-gucci for me - HA

Yeah, to me, in my recent experience, RTR's are basically disposable bits of fun. Which kinda annoys me.

Kits and custom electros for the win.
What I don't like about RTRs is just how fad driven the market is:

"Buy all three new Groms! Heres the new Mini Maxx!! Be sure to buy the new Rlarro rally car too because your favorite youtuber said it's great! Be sure to buy all of our hop ups too like our $60 anodized turnbuckles!". Its like Tyco RC all over again!

RTR Electronics? Good for spares, I usually toss them into whatever I sell. They can also be useful for lightweight Tamiya kits.
