I'm charging the battery now most likely give it a run in the morning....toss it! I sell it..lol

I don't see a motor heat sink, or diff oil in there anywhere? You'll need both, and need to tear the truck down before running it. I'm telling you, your diffs will be dry or almost dry. Traxxas batteries are overpriced IMHO, and you're about to run it on the single NiMh pack it came with, it's slow as crap with that. Lipo is night and day difference, and I almost never run 3s packs, 2s packs all the time in the yard and driveway. Also, you can't run lipos in series at all, as the ESC is only rated for 3s max. Running it on 3s with the speed pinion (the one that's installed from the factory, again it's a misprint in the manual) on hard surfaces it's almost too much speed (50mph + with the right packs, about 40-45 with most packs as tmaxxfreek mentioned) and it's so small it gets squirrely fast, and it's very easy to over correct and send it cart wheeling.

^^ thanks! Hadn't even thought about those I was more concerned with spare parts, what kind of diff oil, what's a good heat sink?

Also consider a center diff to help keep it planted. Mine almost couldn't be driven on LiPo without it.

My VXL came with the centre diff inside the box...and ya it's empty!
Also picked up the heat sink that traxxas makes for the venlineon 380

I want a professional/ charger better than the traxxas one and lipo batteries to go with!.....can you guys point me in the right direction, I'm already trying to order SMC batteries, but after 3s and a higher mAh I have no idea what I getting myself I to

You can't go above 3s with the stock electronics. I'd say a 3s 1600mah will be perfect! Check out the hitec x1 charger. Traxxas took that charger and added there logo and made it blue, oh and made it more expensive of course!

I know I know...sorry bud can't help m'self somedays

The shop where I ordered my MERV suggested the onyx 235AC/DC charger....maybe cause that's all they had in stock?

Huh I haven't even made a up my mind yet, it can charge phones, thanks for doing me some research you are truly a bro!.....yay--or--nay?

Most single chargers are about the same. You can get into dual or even quad battery chargers. It's will work fine. Make sure to get a LiPo fire proof bag!

Gggrrr...now I want a dual/quad lipo battery charger!
If you can name a good one, that would help me out a bunch

I also thought that if I can increase the mAh that I would get longer run time, and if 3s is my limit....then I just order the parallel lipo connector?....cause I was going the grab the series connectors too!

Does it have to be a lipo fire proof bag...I have a fire proof bag for my rod stubs, will that work...a welding rod can be pretty hot....it looks like a really thick canvas pail

I'm using the onyx 245. Doesn't have storage charge per say but the manual tells you how

More mah is more run time. I think you should try running just a single battery setup and see how you like it. If its not fast e bought you can order up the connector

Ok, single battery...baby steps?...I can do baby steps!

Wow just finish running through the chargers on a-main some of them are $250+:whhooo:

Do I just splurge and grab the the one with the biggest name brand, bare in mind I only wanna buy this thing once every couple years.

Always buy a good quality charger. If you search, there threads on everyone's recommended charger. I currently use a Venom Procharger+. It's a single battery charger, but will charge almost every currently used battery used in the hobby.

I'm gonna use a pair of 2S or 3S lipos I'd like them to charge at the same time, I'd like it to connect to my ford F-150, on average how long does it take to charge on 1S, also I want the option of shutting down my mini rig verses running out of power so I want the highest 3S mAh I can find

It sound dumb but can someone tell me what to buy in regards to charges and batteries, preferably before 3pm Monday tomorow

If it helps I'm west of the 4th (W4M)

Charging solutions vary more widely than everyones favorite fuel / battery brand. For years I used a Thunder T6, and still have it and works fine. The only downside was I have a lot of lipos for ground rigs and aircraft and it took forever to get everything charged doing one pack at a time. Year before last I spent the cash on an iCharger 206b setup from Progressive RC and I couldn't be happier. 20amp output means I can charge 9 of my 2200mah heli packs, or five 4000mah 3s truck / quad packs in one hour. If my play time gets cut short (as it has all summer due to rain), I can storage charge that many packs in one hour also. I love the convenience and time savings of it because I'm a busy guy, but it's a fairly big investment for a charging solution and isn't for everyone.

Well they'll be my first charger/batteries other than my old dynamite prophet sport/venom 5s!<had them for 5yrs now. I believe it only charges 4-8 cell Ni-Cd and Ni-MH packs

So I guess anything that won't have me buying a new charger and batteries anytime soon would be great
