Tried doing it with not using salt, I used sponge brushes that are round layer after layer of rust color, then spray white and use a toothbrush to ware white paint. Any paint that would peel I used silver paint marker to make it metal color.

I need to purchase a scale, I bet it will perform better without that cage body. The wt difference is definitely noticeable!!!

How quick are your scx24s? I'm trying to decide if I can build one with some speed (obvious a challenge with the scale) or if I need to look at going 1/18...or third option abandon the idea, lol

I understand yours a more crawler oriented too, just wondering if speed could be possible.

My idea was to make a mini monster basher...for my kiddo

Yea I'm looking into gearing. I installed the Furitek chameleon on my SCX24, not a huge difference, going to play with changing the pinion gear. I'm not looking for like big basher speeds. Just maybe like 5-6mph?

I haven’t looked into it yet and you may spark some interest here, but playing around with the spur and pinion will probably achieve 5-6 mph you looking for. May have to go outside the box a little. There is .03 mod and .05 mod spur options but unsure which is faster.

You can go brushless, just be sure to get a motor with a mount, and brushless esc, some are cheap and programmable and all in one package, also bigger battery, can get a little.

Yep! I am looking into this as well. Currently I planned to stick with .3 mod, with a micro Komodo Brushless and 12-14t pinion. I'm thinking of starting a thread on it. Folks will probably think I'm bonkers, haha
