Recently finished another build and wanted to show.
1983 GMC K1500, though was known as the "Big Red Chev"
build was for my dad and was his old truck he had to get rid of.
body was found on thingiverse, was originally a blazer body, but was not able to find one for a truck.

cut down in half to create the bed and cab:

cab F360 .webp

also had to fix a few things namely the grill, as truck i referenced was 4 rectangular lights, hi/lo separate bulbs, instead of the combination Hi/Lo round lights.

Next was designing the inner bed:
i found a few scaled up versions on thingiverse that i was able to resize, modify, and chop up and be the dimensions that i needed.
bed liner F360.webp

then came designing the rest of what was needed, headlight buckets, battery tray, toolbox, rear upper link mount, front and rear body mount/hinge.
the bumpers was also taken from online models and scaled.

body printed:

next needed some wheels that were closer to what was on the truck,

then for the grill, the grill on the truck was the horizontal bars, and i knew that as small as those were to scale it would not print correctly, decided on using some 22awg wire, straightened out, then coated in UV resin. ended up being about 20 strands of wire to make it.

then assembled and coated with some UV resin to clean up prints and act as filler, and also to thicken up some areas on the body as the 3d print model was very thin. definitely something i need to learn blender or some other software, Fusion is pretty difficult to do that with imported meshes.

next up is paint, as with the last build, used a Krylon Colormaxx primer, and then used Dupli-color perfect match in the same color of the truck. (if you plan to do this with that combination ensure you let the primer dry for at least 2-3 days, or until you cannot smell the solvents anymore, as Krylon is acrylic, and the dupli-color is a lacquer, and can etch/soften the primer and get bad things). then a few coats of the clear coat.

assembled the truck again, designed and added a toolbox to hide the hardware between the bed and cab

headlights working:
top lights are the high Beams and are switchable, lowers are the low beams and always on.

Then adding paint to windows, bed caps, grill, headlights, and bumpers to finish the project.

Great looking chevy. Is that a Vaughn gitten jr mustang body from an hpi e10? What nitro car is it on?

Thanks!
Unfortunately no, it is some knock-off Nissan 350z style body with that livery, i got off amazon for cheap.
The chassis is also a project i am working on mostly 3d printed 😅 chassis plate, fuel tank, and drivetrain is from an HSP.
No idea how its going to do as i don't have a gyro yet, but its a RWD nitro drift car with a sliderack steering system. I have another version of it in the works to utilize a transverse mounted engine to help with rear weight, was thinking using a Nitro rustler transmission for parts availability. At this time i don't really have a good way to fabricate gears that aren't just 3d printed plastic. but waiting for a friend to finish his CNC machine before i can start doing my own chassis plates.
