As some may know from my recent AX10 build threads I've been on a kick for old Axial of late
A week ago i traded my scx10.3 builders kit for a 10.1
Id never ran the basecamp, built it up to the oe spec and painted up a patina s10 for it and tossed on some 85mm chavs and takeoff coyote wheels/tires
It never really excited me and i didnt see myself using it, i figured someone would give me a 10.1 for it. I ended up trading it as a slider with the body
SO, heres what i got in return.
It came with a incomplete (but very mint) 2012 jeep Rubicon body as well. Hoping to collect the needed bits for that body and use it for a future project
Since this particular rig had a very short wheelbase anyway i figured id rock something closer to that
Alot of the parts on the slider were new or very low use with the exception of the axles, unfortunately they had been sprayed silver, and upon further inspection they had been modified for beef tubes as well
Stoked about the CMS kit, nice pieces, unsure on manufacturer
I had this Bushido body laying around, the wheelbase was close enough and it just felt right
Unfortunately this isnt a full on build thread, as i didnt document it all, but i wanted to share the finished product, i had a ton of fun building it with stuff i already had on hand
For the truck itself i ended up doing the following
-Replaced front and rear housings with good used ones, went through cleaned and re greased all bearings and gears
- changed out cut rear 4 link truss for a new unit
-extended lower links and front upper with rc4wd m3 rod ends, replaced rear uppers with Meus stainless
-cleaned, lapped and re greased gearbox
-swapped 90mm boomracing shocks for 85mm chavs, rebuilt with traxxas 3 hole pistons
-added a meus goldrush micro winch mount and reefs mini 99
- fusion 1200 with a robinson 14t pinion, giving me a FDR of 33:1 ~ good trailing speed on 3s
- swapped the tactic servo for an Amazon 35kg blue case
-modified an old dingo rear bumper to match the bushido
- assembled some Meus 1.9s with proline G8 tsl's on cheap dual stage inserts
I think that about covers it, so here it is with my multi layered patina job, I'm stoked on how it turned out so i wanted to share
can't wait to get it out on some trails
