I got a few new things.. new trx4m, new charger and battery for my 1/10th .. I've never messed with lipos, but charger seems pretty dummy proof..but how many amps do I charge the trx4m battery at .. and how many amps for the 1/10th scale battery ? Also do I need to discharge before charging ? I ran the battery in the trx4m pretty low. But completely dead.. thanks..

Hi there!

I personally haven't used a Traxxas charger or their ID system. Some "smart" charge systems auto select for you.

If you have to set up the charger, your battery type is LiPo and you'll want to use balance charge when charging.

I would charge the smaller one at 1 amp and the larger one at 4 or 5 if it offers it.

You may need an adapter for the smaller battery if you haven't already purchased it.

Also, when you're completed your runs you'll want to take the extra step to "store" the batteries using the charger; it will ensure long life and safe handling.

Some chargers call this Storage.

The Traxxas ID charger does the rate for you. Plug in the battery, select "lipo", select "fast charge" and hit start. Same with "store" or "balance"...just pick the task you want. I personally have had no issues with it. But I'm not racing . It does take some time to "balance" function a battery.

Hi!
A few quick things...
Since a similar question was recently asked, heres a link that might help you out.

Each battery pack has a safe charge rate that you should not exceed. There is no generic answer, tho charging at 1C is generally considered safe.

You do not want to ever try to entitely drain a lipo pack.
There are low voltage alarms availible to prevent this is your esc doesn't have a low voltage cut off built in.

I try to stop when my cells are at 3.2v or so.

Lipos are great but its important that you understand them and how they work ti prevent damage or injury.

Check out the links and come back, ask more questions... 😎👍
