Recently my son told me he wanted to modify his wheely king to go faster. I told him we would look into it. Then I started thinking maybe we should get a new one. I'm wondering what everybody thinks is the best way to go.

I don't know of too many go-fast parts for the Wheely King. You would probably be better off buying a new truck.

I've always thought that part of the fun of our hobby is modifying our rigs. That you and your son share in the fun is a huge bonus.

You can always swap the 540 motor out for a 27t mod motor. Most the racers swear by these fast cans. Trinity makes some good motors! I'm not an electric guru so you should make sure the stock ESC can handle the motor.

Hmmm, I would probably buy a truck meant for real speed. If you throw a bigger motor/gear setup in the WK, it will still be extremely tall and very unstable CoG (center of gravity) at high speeds. IMO I would get a new rig.

My personal opinion is the Wheelie King isnt worth hoping up and hamz said depending on what it is you eventually want to do there isnt a lot of hop ups available for it that I'm aware of. If all you want to do is put a new motor and maybe an esc to make it go a little faster you can totally do that but if it were me I think Id go for a new truck. Something that when the newness of that wears off it will have tons of hop ups available for it. Something like a E-maxx or Savage Flux probably would be great for both being fast and after market support. They will both be more expensive than the wheelie King if I'm not mistaken.

A good idea might be one of the following:

These are 2wd stadium trucks that have aftermarket parts and aren't too outrageously priced.

A Savage Flux or maybe one of the 1/16 scale Traxxas trucks aren't bad choices either.

I put a traxxas 12turn motor ment for the stampede in the wheely king. Its faster but I noticed the 2 piece driveshafts seperate allot. So I'm thinking I will try my hand at a new rig. We are looking at an e-maxx. I know it's way better than the wk. I would like to thank everybody for helping us figure out my sons next rig.

I think you'll be very happy with an e-maxx. Theyre fairly durable, not too expensive, have tons of LHS support and hands down has the most hop ups available for it than any other truck on the market. At least that I'm aware of. I would look at the brushless e-maxx personally over the brushed on though if your wanting speed.

You can waterproof either system. The motors themselves dont have to have anything done to them, just the ESC, servos, and reciever.
