I've got a gt2 rtr and I'm ready to upgrade the engine. I was thinking about the os.18tz possibly pull start so I dont have to buy a starter box. The web site claims 1.8 hp, we run on a private track so anything goes, my question is will I rip the tranny to pieces? Also with that much hp will it be too squirrly to run on a tight track? My buddy is running a os.tg12 and it flys compared to my stock engine. You can't beat the preice of 129 for the 18. I'm just curious if this would be way over kill for my application or should I just get a .12. Thanks in advance for you time and help!

I think it'd be massive overkill. I've got the TZ.12 in my GT, and it flat out flies. It's not even broken in all the way, either.

engine.....

I'm just thinking about the price mainly....130+ vs. what like 250 or so???? Do you have any trouble with the gears ripping apart?...I think i read the tz 12 is like 1.5 hp...what kinda fuel are you running? Thanks for your input!

I've had zero issues with gear damage. Just set the slipper according to the manual, and you should have no problems. I'm running Trinity MHP 20%. The truck doesn't exactly wheelie, but wow. Power to spare.

I don't go by OS' numbers, other than the peak RPM and the peak torque numbers. Even then, they tend to be under-rated. Massively.

The 18 motor should be more than enough, if you don't care about race-legality. It'll make the GT up and fly just as good.

sweet....

I was just kinda leary about it being TOO much and not being able to drive it on the track. I've been serching the forums to try to find someone who is running the tz 18 in that truck but have had no luck....guess ill keep searching...thanks again..

I'm not sure what this guy ran at the races in Joliet IL this weekend..

but he dominated in the truggy class..
got a kick out of seein this little st truck runnin with trucks 3 times its size.

thanks for the input!!!

I was being a wuss and ordered the .12tz. The 18 just seemed like it might be bit much for our track, I could barely keep a handle on it with the stock motor....practice...practice:)...thanks again for the input....
