Any gear cover for us RC weirdos wanting to "bash" a race bred ride? If I were a Losi dude, I would be lettin' one of these 22X-T loose on some backdoor track fun for sure. I know, I know... it's 2025 Rusty! Nobody wants to get their indoor climate controlled race cars dirty 🤪

All this TLR talk about making a comeback, and the "TLR" dedicated website is still not up to par since the release of the 22X buggy. I demand answers!
My thoughts, as well. Had that occur when doing and electric conversion on a RC10T. Fabricated a gear guard out of Lexan and fit it to the tranny housing. Would not keep grass and pine needles out, but did keep me from getting my fingers nipped by the gear train when on the bench or pit stand. Think TLR would at least have given us as users something there. -AC

AE rere's, new but old 🤓
i have originals, don't need the rere's. i think what I'm looking for is a brand new RC10T4 that'll have support for the next 6 years. the T5 was the first generation i didn't like. thought it was unnecessary, overly complicated, and didn't like the way it drove. granted that was after spending a massive 10 minutes looking over it and driving it for maybe 3 of those minutes.
i blame race tracks. way to much grip these days. its causing the off road cars to become on road cars. don't like it.
the T4 felt like the last race car you could bash. idk... i think that's what bugs me about the new stuff (other than cost)

Traxxas still supports the rustler 😉😅🤣
Basic, not complicated at all, easy to work on. Vintage rear motor setup. What else can you ask for? And you can set it up like a monster truck too. Bash and race. Yes it is doable to race a rustler. You'll just be about 1.5-2 seconds slower than a modern mid motor truck on a high grip track... Got evidence to prove that too. But to be true I was running on the OG PL Bald Eagles with the terrible airgap with the running change inserts so that could take in on lap times.

But id like to try out if I ran my rusty on outdoor "oldschool" dirt in a truck class with other modern trucks, if it could keep up... 🤔

that's why i built a "rustler" but id rather have something newer that handles a little better and isn't a fornicating traxxas .
iv heard on an outdoor dirt track they can be made to be a semi functional entry level off road racer. but with the amount of work why bother?

I agree. Same thing i told myself about trying to make the podium with mine. Not worth the time and money. That's why I still have and race my traxxas cars here and there for fun. Bc its not worth the money to sell them an din return lose money trying to get a modern race grade kit for high grip surfaces.
Imho, IF they can make a chassis that can switch between Rear Motor and Mid Motor setups, that would be awesome but highly doubt they will. (Can be do-able with a Slash using a nitro slash chassis (tagging @luke66 for this)
If you ever seen MX Acres on YouTube his videos are pretty good. he does alot of work on his traxxas cars making them race-able and the results are surprising.

you don't have to have the motor behind the shock tower. you just need controllable rear grip. which do to tracks being so smooth, prepped and gripped up is completely opposite the current trend of putting all the weight in front of the headlights for maximum front grip and steering. to me at least, driving a modern off road car feels just like driving an on road car. you end up steering the car with the wheel instead of the throttle, and iv always just pitched the backend into a corner, modulated throttle and counter steered. trucks like the 22X-T weren't designed for that. until tracks change these trucks are going to get more and more useless for anyone but a dedicated racer with a high grip race track to run it on. which sucks for the rest of us.

But it’s…. So…… slow…..

But I do agree that high grip isn’t as fun. Although I’m unfortunate enough to not live near any tracks so I’d be happy with any amount of grip.
that's just where the technology was back then. sometimes you had to gear your junk to last 4 minutes. but imagine taking a new car with modern electrics and plopping it down on those tracks.

this pic just caught my eye. why in the absolute fornication is the steering knuckle/steering arm (wth we calling those these days?) 2 pieces? its added hardware, added weight, added carbon fiber, added complexity. added cost. in 25+ years iv never broken one or never needed to adjust one.
that pisses me off.
Don't they make optional whatever those cf parts are called to change the steering angle?

Careful with those. I thought I heard (22x build video from TLR) that there is a Narrow front end for the AC and Wide for the DC, but you have to replace the entire spindle assembly together from the hinge pins out to keep the correct geometry. So not sure i would just change these parts out..

In other news...What tires are those? I'm always looking at new ways to hook up some traction. Those look fun.
Confirmed
The tires pictured with the PL upgrade Sector body are new Electron T 2.0s, new bar tires.

And would you look at that already upgrades out for it

WOW Horizon! 🤣😆
That's Horizon for us. 🤦
The link they posted (I copied it from FB to here) goes to a Fury SCT body. So I think they're saying a SCT body can fit on a stadium truck! 🤣🤣😂. Just wow. I ain't changing that link btw lol. Gonna keep it there so I can have a laugh at it when I view this years later lol.
Anyways here is the actual link to the appropriate body.: https://www.horizonhobby.com/product/1-10-sector-st-clear-body-tlr-22x-t-and-others/PRO366800.html
I know this is an older thread, but WOW. THAT BODY IS AWESOME. Wonder how well it’d fit on my et410.2 🤔 since I’ve already cracked the right front of it 🤷🏻‍♂️😬

Old thread? Not. Ten years from now... then it be old. ;)
Work that body dude!
Get it out of your head... Just gettin' things out in the open.:hehe:
I've seen a lot of stadium truck bodies used on the ET410 platform. I'm sure a person could get it to work.
