👏👏👏 Okay, we got the 2wd platforms caught up to F1 carpet machine specs. I want more...

I know they're meant for tracks, but can we get a nicer looking SCT body?
Well, the thing is, you get to choose what body you want... they don't come with bodies. :):(

But a lot of them are them same. They take a good looking truck and then widen it, they always, just look off to me.

holding back the... ...excitement... 😴
i remember when a release like this got everyone excited, now the only people who care are the diehard racers.
It's the awful "fake" interpretation box pictures of the platforms that gets me. Hey, I know. Let's showcase these things for what they were meant to do. Positrons running in soft outdoor loamy dirt. What the?!

I don't dislike this release. Would like a newer generation ST. But, darn, the cost to fit this NIB slider out is a bit much. $1100 USD using Reedy and AE brand items. Like the T7 has track bars front and rear. Does it really have 8.5mm wheel hexes? Is that the standard now?

Wish listed it, but looking closer, T7 appears more suited to carpet or clay tracks. Shock towers in particular don't look sturdy enough for an old-school real outdoor off-road dirt track. But then again, not many of those tracks around anymore. Probably work o.k. on my back yard grass track. Much as I'd like to get one, gut tells me this is a pass. -AC

Lets see f the rest of AE's prices get like this before Amain buys them out...
Its much easier to blame the OLD president for everything HE did instead of owning these prices themselves.

I can build a NASTY rc for $1100!!!!
There most certainly would be no flimsy shock towers and not much left needed to upgade either...
The price is stupid.

THIS is what makes me sad/insane about RC!!!

Just when you thought you'd found EVERY way posdible to spend money on this hobby...

HEY!!! Does EVERYONE ON THE PLANET own 12mm hex wheels now????

GREAT!!! Throw them ALL in the trash and buy new ones because AE says so! Yay! 🙄

No idea if this is the "new innovations" that AE has in mind... I'm personally ALL set with buying another dozen wheels that will only fit these new buggies of theirs.

8.5mm on the axles represents the offset of the hex.

Ahh. Track width adjust. o.k. Got it. Thanks, guys. Still, drive hex looks pretty thin. Will the thinner hex wear a groove in the wheel hex? Then again, I notice on some of the JConcepts and P-L 12mm wheels I've bought recently, the 12mm hex molded into the wheel is quite shallow compared to what I'm used to running. This thinner hex is the new lighter weight standard? -AC

Those are front axles from a 2WD... not much torque there to worry about your wheel's hexes, IMO.

Yes, I see offset. Was very much looking like when ONLY 2.2 wheels would be allowed to race... 🙄
I have already fought the 'new' wheel size battle. SO happy to hear its not coming again and that they haven't decided to go smaller instead of larger hex sizes if it were to change.

Wheel hexes excluded, $1100 is more than I would spend on a FT truck like this.

Hey, Mike. That $1100 includes the price of the kit as well as what it takes to fit it out. Also, when I did the hasty estimate, used only AE and Reedy components so that price will come down depending on what a racer determines is the best fit for the kit. Besides, figuring it is an AE, sticking with Reedy components to keep it 'all AE' for legacy purposes building on the AE/Reedy legend. Both tend to be a bit pricey on the market.

Also didn't figure in the cost of a radio system in the $1100 hasty estimate. Probably draw from the basher/pit box for those items. New radio system will add to the cost, although did figure in cost of a steering servo (Reedy) on the $1100. You're correct in saying $1100 is more than you'd probably spend on a build. Not trying to mislead anyone. Just a hasty estimate on what I'd probably have to spend to put it on my track.

Used to spread sheet what it cost for a build. Scared me. Quit that. And my hasty estimates always tend a bit high to account for unknowns. Cheers. -AC

I read your comment about it being factory components. I think you are prob close. Its AE and their prices... I'm sure a person could outfit the truck with better components at a lower price with careful shopping.

I know most ppl who race have at least this much in anything competitive these days.
My beef with the price is it still needs upgrades... after the initial purchase.

I think someone could source a chassis and very high quality 'hop up' parts for the same $1100.

I AM glad AE is still around and happy they ARE involved in racing. There are a lot of things that AE does that I do not like nor agree with too.

Seems like there is a push to make this hobby and everything else in life to be more expensive than it was without us really gaining much for the increased price.

For $1100, a person should be able to buy a WELL outfitted car imo. Perhaps I'm being unrealistic...

Then I have to ask how many new RC'er are going to ever be interested in racing when the car is $1100, radio is $300, batteries, charger another $250, sets of tires and (thankfully not 8.5 hex) wheels, parts, tools, pit supplies...

What young person has this kind of money to blow on a hobby??? 🤷‍♀️

Hopefully the price is a fluke and not just the beginning.

Buy used

I'm about 550 ish bucks in my 22 5.0 currently.

Kit new is only 430 bucks. Seems normal for a race grade stadium truck compared to other brands ie Losi, X-ray, ect. ??

These race grade cars are outfitted pretty nicely from the factory. On my 74.1 AE, the ONLY upgrade I have on it is a aluminum front tower. Only because from years ago when I didn't drive the best I kept snapping the CF towers. But that's on me, not AE.

Plus most racers already have electronics on hand like batteries and radios and servos. So that price of 1.1k might be only like 600 or so total for a average hobbyist/racer. On my 22 build I don't include my radio, Rx, and battery price bc I carried those over from my other car/share between cars. If we talking from a newbie standpoint, that has absolutely nothing, technically they don't need the best of the best electronics, they can get lower level/budget stuff to bring that price down, by alot.

Not sure how we came up with the 8.5 hex thing. Most if not all 1/10 cars these days has 12mm hex. Unless I missed something, 8.5 is the width of the hex/track width.

When you get started into racing your automatically sucked into it, for most people including myself and most of us racers don't even complain about prices anymore. Bc track fees add up a WHOLE lot more than 1.1k. lol.
If we complaining about a 2 wheel stadium truck look at the prices of 1/8 _uggy kits. Or 1/5 gasser racing. Or onroad racing. Or anything at this point.

With 1/10 classes, most tracks only run stock now, which stock classes are more money filled bc to win you have to have money to buy those extra performance parts if you want, have more expensive electronics and have lots of time for tuning and trial and error. Does this transfer over to different scales like 1/8 or different classes like mod? Also yes, but with stock you are limited by the power of the motor/the specific motor (turns) and blinky escs.
