Like most addicts, I swear I could quit at any time but I have failed once again.
It started with attending a backyard Hotdogs and Hot Laps at my moms neighbors. I succumbed to the peer pressure and got an Associated Pro4 SCT. Then I needed a 2wd to see how that felt and found a Slash on Marketplace for a great price. Seeing how awesome the parts support was for Traxxas in my area, I found a 4x4 Slash. Before I knew it, all three had upgraded motors and ESCs. Not being able to stay away from Marketplace, I found a Losi Mini T 2.0 and just HAD to have it! After upgrading the electronics in that as well, I heard there was an indoor carpet track opening near me so I converted the T into a B. And that's where the story really begins...
After my very first time on a carpet track, I was hooked! But I was the only one with a mini in a sea of 1/10 2wd buggies. So I went on Ebay to see what was out there. I bid on a Losi 22 5.0 Elite and "accidently" won the auction because I was new to Ebay and was unclear on how the bidding thing works. Now I was the proud owner of this thing called a slider...great! now I have to buy the goodies to make it go fast enough to keep up with the 10yo kid with the BadAss B7.2 (side note...that kid still laps me! Lol)
While piecing together a respectable buggy, I somehow acquired a 6s Typhon, La Trax Pre Runner, an unknown 1/8 truggy, a Hosim thing (dog park toy to let the dogs chase), another 4x4 Slash, and another Losi Mini T 2.0. But I couldn't stop there...
At the track one day, the local morning show decided to do a segment on the on road side of things and the track owner had just bought a bunch of these little NASCAR 1/12 cars and wanted to showcase them. He also added a new class to the weekly club racing. GREAT! Now I just HAD to get in on that action and found one #19 Bass Pro Shop car on the east coast and swooped it up. So far that is the only one without upgrades so I can race the Box Stock class. While running some practice laps the other day, the 1/10 touring cars were passing me like I was tied to a pole...sooooooo... I bought "one last RC car"
I found what I thought was a great deal on a 1/10 touring car and pulled the trigger. But in my rush to play with the big dogs, I didn't do a proper research on this car. I got the Serpent X20 RTR. With the proper upgrades, it has the potential to be the $1k I want. The down side? Very little parts support. I mean parts are readily available...from Hong Kong.
I SWEAR! THIS IS MY LAST CAR! (If I keep saying that, I might start believing it! Lol)
So! Does anyone here have any experience with a Serpent X20? I'd love some insight on what I just got myself into...lol
