Mounting the RX on the ESC...bad idea or ok to do?

My only concern would be interference if mounted near large capacitors. But on the opposite side of the esc should be ok. Or heat from the esc if mounted directly to it. But I'm only speculating. Something to think about.

The "on the ESC" part of title drug me in to see what nonsense is going on, but the "on the side of " has me saying you are good to go.

What are you building?

I have a TRX4M that I made an electronics tray for out of scrap lexan. The RX is on the bottom of the sandwich with the ESC sitting on top.
I haven't had any issues at all with it.

There's also more 2 in 1 stuff in the market now then back in the day, they seem to be fine.

I recently changed up my mounting positions and wire routing on my B7. I had the receiver tucked right against the capacitors on the battery leads and the servo and ESC cables running under the capacitors before going into the receiver. I blew up a couple of receivers. The EMF from that capacitor pack was enough to not only interfere with the signal, but enough to fry it. Moved the receiver to the other side of the ESC from the caps, and I'm no longer blowing up receivers.

It's been said, but heat is always a concern. But if you don't have a fan on it, it's probably not too bad.

However, radio interference real. The antenna is designed to pick up signals and you want them to keep away from the signals to the motor.
