Full Review of the XC C8 ESC after 90 days

Also note. There are 2 apps. One version for the sensored ones. One app for the sensorless which is the RTR app. Confuses people. If anyone in the lower mainland wants to pick up the old Mamba Monster they can have it. Still works. From what I gathered they're doing a full North America launch for 2026

You are getting these direct from their site, through amazon, or?
I grabbed mine from amazon. They had a sale not long ago. IDK what the tariffs are but I would rather play safe than sorry. I got whacked by tariffs on a set of tires from Germany a few months ago for $52. FedEx paid it, then billed me apparently.

I tried to contact the company about using this esc without a phone. Got no reply.

My phone goes in the trash when I go to do fun things. Its not allowed to come along.

Can I use these escs without a phone or no?
Maybe message sent to another team-not RC.
You can use it with default settings without a phone if you don't mind.

I have 2 of these XC 8C ESCs and I'm trying to connect to them using my iPhone but I never see a new device in Bluetooth connections. I think I should be doing the following:

1. Get the RTR-Link App from the App Store I tried XC-Link too but I think the issue is BT connectivity)
2. Power up the ESC (does any link or connection/disconnection need to be done?)
3. Search for device under Bluetooth

I have tried 3 different iPhones and looked to see if the BT is visible on my PC but I see nothing on any device.

Am I missing some step to make the BT visible?

Thanks, I read the manual. Do you first go to Settings>Bluetooth and find and connect to the ESC? Do you have to do something special like set a link or switch to make the ESC appear on Bluetooth?

You have access to an android phone to try?

I plugged in the esc to a battery and then looked at my Bluetooth on the phone. It popped right up.

I did not have to go to Bluetooth or settings on the phone. Just press the bluetooth icon after the esc is powered up and it will show a list of Bluetooth devices for you to connect. Obviously select the esc and off you go.
Edit - you may have to allow
Bluetooth access permission to the app.

Thought id chime in here. I have the E8 using XC link and C8 using the RTR link app. The e8 both are lively and feel more punchy compared to the stock Arrma 150A esc ( Hobbywing 8bl150 RTR rebadge). Both are used sensorless. But i encountered once c8 shut down with no obvious reason (not LVC) and with the e8 I encountered many instances of servo no steering after a jump. I later found the servo wire being pinched by the receiver box.

Is cellular data access required for the app to work?
