i'll have one soon, I'm sure others here will too....I've seen many action shots of them and they look pretty good plus losi tested for SO long that they better be good lol.

It is, but I have been doing a lot of soul searching. After talking with both yourself and Lloyd I had to really look at my surrounds. As Lloyd pointed out--an all out comp-level crawler is going to be bad-ass, but 1) Can I use it to its potential, and 2) If not can I justify the cost.

The sad truth is that I don't have any great climbing areas anywhere near me. It is desert. There are the occasional rocky groupings, and lava flows (we call 'em malpies) but the one good area to crawl is a State Park called Hueco Tanks. A few years ago the state cut it off to everything save for guided tours and group rock climbing expeditions because they were having to make so many rescues. In fact, this place is a winter mecca for rock climbers!

So, to make a long story short, I decided (after lots of PM's to Lloyd the last two days) that the Losi would be overkill for the little crawling I will be able to do. I am going to, in the next two months, get the AX10 RTC. That way I am only making an investment of $275 dollars on a RTC vs. on a roller. I am thinking that, if I really like the crawler thing, I can either mod out the AX10 or sell it and go Losi 1/10.

So that is the plan, sad as it is. I just can't justify $500+ for something I don't have the terrain for, especially if I don't really get into it.

the ax10 rtc will still have to be modded and most likely you'll have to replace they're servo's, also the diffs don't come locked so you will have to tear apart the diffs to lock them. Maybe the rock racer be better were you live, but the amount all the electronics in the axial rtc doesn't cost much if you wanted to put it in a losi. plus losi has better parts overall.

Mine will be in my hands early next week.

Now I will need to carve out some time between 10th scale on-road racing and 5th scale on/off-road racing and get it crawling.

sweet! congrats Rob! i was actually gonna buy mine today but my phone died last night so i gotta get that taken care of first.......sadly.

That is why I said this^^^. I understand that the AX10 will need to be modded to be as good as the Losi. I just don't have the kind of steep verticals, etc. that require dig, lockers, etc.

i realize that you have any seirous stuff but the tires, servos, maybe softer springs will bump you up almost to the cost of a losi with cheap electronics in it

and the diff is required for any crawling, unless your more into racing across a pit of shoe sized boulders

theres no reason to put down an axial, they have proved them selves to be one of the best crawlers available. the losi is not gonna be superior when it comes too just having fun with some nice articulating stuff. I've had many axials and they do great.

Somebody needs to hold me back...

...unless your more into racing across a pit of shoe sized boulders

Obviously you have never been to West Texas and Southern New Mexico. THAT IS EXACTLY MY TERRAIN!!!

Believe me, I have talked this over with crawler gurus. They are advising me based on my terrain and interest. I will take thier word any day of the week and twice on bash day!

any of the top brands, axial, venom creeper, both losi's, the kyosho rock force, are all good rigs and are great starts into crawling. the losi is aimed at being more "comp" ready than the rest though but it is more wich if you dont have the money and dont plan on comping, then go with the next best thing, the axial.

or just build a superior rig already, a berg, and be done with it....lol.

it was aimed in general lol... i totally agree though, spend less, get an axial, wich is great, and see if its for you.

This is what our mountain areas look like:

This is a dry creek bed area to bash in:

Hey, I am following your advice, so I imagine you would agree! ;)

I wish I could find a picture of the "creek bed" that I landscaped on the side of my house. Truth be told that is where 90% of my "crawling" would be...

maybe the ax10 nor the losi are for you though, if you have a creek, maybe you should look at the scx and pick a kick butt lid for it and go from there, scalers can perform very well too.
