Alright guys... well, I guess this is something only the fathers out there would understand, but I will put it out here anyway. Ever since my daughter was born, alot of things suddenly have different meanings. Songs for instance.... I listen to country music... well I listen to just about anything but country music seems to my favorite lately. Well George Striat has a song out called "I Saw God Today" and it is about a new father witnessing the birth of his new baby girl. It almost brought tears to my eyes it was just that powerful. Two months ago I would not have thought twice about it. Since she was born, I can't wait to get home from work, and at least until my wife goes back to work I get to go home to see her at lunch. I had no idea how much that little girl would have me wrapped around her finger and at this point she has no idea she has fingers. LOL I would literally give my life right now to save hers. I never knew I could feel this way about anyone or anything. It is absolutely amazing. Anyway not to get mushy, but I just wanted to share. Thanks

Tom

Man thats really touching, only a man could write that on this forums. Congrats on your kids and everything. My dad was telling me it slows life down when you have a kid. And from reading what your wrote I think he was right.

Glad to hear you love your kid and you arnt like them other fathers that are in prison for beating there wife and kids.

Good Luck Man!
Caleb

Congratulation Tom, your a DAD!

Hard to believe man. I never thought I would be here. I never liked kids when I was younger. Hell in my early 20's I wouldn't even touch a baby! LOL

Hey Rolex.. I know what you are saying... she's already got me wrapped around those little fingers of hers.... I don't think she knows it yet... although sometimes I think she does.

Remember these times.

Take plenty of pics and vids so you can always look back.

Next thing you know she will be 11 going on 18 and you will wish she was a baby once again.

I speak from experience my friend.

Yeah man, that song really eases the fear of being a parent for me. I look forward to it now, and when the time is right it will be amazing.

This song is also great.
Trace Adkins - You're Gonna Miss This
She was staring out the window of their SUV
Complaning, saying "I can't wait to turn 18"
She said "I'll make my own money, and I'll make my own rules"
Mamma put the car in park out there in front of the school
Then she kissed her head and said "I was just like you"

You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this

Before she knows it she's a brand new bride
In a one-bedroom apartment, and her daddy stops by
He tells her "It's a nice place"
She says "It'll do for now"
Starts talking about babies and buying a house
Daddy shakes his head and saysAnd s "Baby, just slow down"

Cause you're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this

Five years later there's a plumber workin' on the water heater
Dog's barkin', phone's ringin'
One kid's cryin', one kid's screamin'
And she keeps apologizin'
He says "They don't bother me.
I've got 2 babies of my own.
One's 36, one's 23.
Huh, it's hard to believe, but...

You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this"

And another song that I swear sends chills every time is Martina McBride's Concrete Angels.

Also, watch this video...if you don't tear up to this song just a little you don't have a heart.

My fiancee lived through this for many years, I know this first hand. I've been with her for 8 years, through when she was put into foster care, etc...Being a good father means the world. I can tell you, every day I see the effects of a father's neglect. They may never say "Thanks Dad" but they mean it in more ways than you will ever know.

godale,

Just last month or two I was lucky enough to score tickets to a George Strait concert, the only country artist that I ever really wanted to go see, and he sung this song at the concert before it was hot on the radio. Awesome song and I don't even have kids or a wife.

Bro you'll be playing with Bratz, Barbie's and whatever else comes along.
And liking it!

Cherish the moments.

as digger said cherish the moments...i still look back at the days my son was born 14 years ago like it was yesterday.they grow up quick.

Thanks guys. Man I never knew anything like this feeling existed in real life until I held that baby in my arms seconds after she was born. It has got to be one of the best things two people can share in life. I picked her up this morning just as she was waking up before I left for work and it is undescribable how cool that was. She was just waking up and she was all wrapped up, just kinda still sleeping in my arms. Man I just wanted to take her to work with me! LOL It is so hard because I love my stepson, but it is a totally different kind of love I feel for her. I just don't want him to think I love him any less, because I don't. Holding her makes me want to have more.... but then when she is up at Midnight.... that thought goes away quickly! LOL

Now I think I will go home and take me a bubble bath, and talk to my wife about my feelings..... I mean go home and have a couple of cold ones and watch the game! LOL

Hey Michael,

My wife got me tickets the first year we were married for Xmas. The show was in Philly and so it was a bit of a drive for us. She got us a room in the Marriott in downtown Philly for the night so we could have a "date" night. Well the concert was in the end of January and not 2 days after I got the tickets I broke my leg! She thought we would not be going.... Let me tell you I crutched my way up to my seats and around that arena and I enjoyed the hell out of myself. Great show for sure.
