well the traxxas is a bad company train lolol, i personally dont care about the manufacturer of my vehicle. i get that a lot of people suffer greatly from brand loyalty. be it good or bad.
i personally won't buy a pair of Nike's as they're just too pricey for a shoe, my roadie billy ONLY has nike, and generally keeps em on a shelf ( whyyyyyyyy) but hes got that brand loyalty bug.
i read today about traxxas using asbestos in a few pieces they ship out.
my thing is that weve known for a LONG time that asbestos is bad.
traxxas knew, but still said well we can get em made cheaper if we use asbestos..... fukem lets do it..
to me this is just a nasty practice. it shows that they only want my money, and would risk my son breathing in asbestos just to sell some parts.....
thankfully we arent in the EU so alledgedly dont have to worry about this.
but that doesn't change the fact that they did it.
now if someone does me dirty, i pretty much assume its not the first time, and that if given another chance they would probably behaver the same way.
rob me once, not giving you a second chance.
so based on that i am personally going to find it very difficult to buy anything from them in the future. if you add up all of the "bad" business practices they have it just paints a picture that i dont want to look at anymore

Thought I'd ask 🤬

I know Arrma had a similar issue in the past with Asbestos pads. (My Opinion) I seriously doubt any exposure to these is going to create an issue, unless you have contact with a ton of them, or decide to snack on them. A lot of that is govt. scare tactics. Yes long exposure to it is bad for you, but small doses aren't going to hurt you, kind of like radiation. The glow in the dark numbers on your wrist watch are radioactive but not enough to cause harm. same kind of situation.

So they have an asbestos free option too?
That's what I was trying to get out of the guy. But... crickets after that.

I think it's unlikely the folks who can make company-wide decisions are posting on a fan forum. :ninja:

Just another of MANYYYYYYY reasons why TrashXXXXXXX is not good for the hobby ......

The ONLY ... and I mean ONLY thing trashxxxxxx has been good for the hobby is by offering cheap RTR all in on box setups.....to get the new guy everything they need to go run a car ....... other than that .... there tech is outdated , their models are just regurgitated 20yr old chassis rebranded into "new" models .... they sue anyone making a part or upgrade for their models , then take the item they sued about and start producing it themselves, and run the original maker out of business ... and this is just the start of their nasty dirty practices they use

Amusing to me...
Years ago I was in California bay area for work. One day there is a news article complaining about the high cost of housing. The next day there's a news article complaining about developers wanting to build more houses.
🤪
Today, in the RC world, I read about how bad it is that Traxxas still makes the same models 20 years on, then the next thing, I read about how hard it is to find parts for a 5-10 year old XYZ.

Like I said, amusing. :hehe:

not here to defend traxxas but i will defend asbestos. you have to be around moderate amounts of it, in dust form, for prolong periods of time for it to cause harm. unless you're sniffing your slipper clutch after every run it was never going to hurt you.

People don’t realize they’ve likely been exposed to more asbestos in their workplace, the environment or their own home. I seriously doubt anyone has ever or will ever develop an illness or cancer unless they were grinding up slipper pads and snorting the dust.

Everyone is jumping onto Traxxas, but my question is how many other brands are using Asbestos in their slipper pads and keeping quiet about it?

Didn’t ARRMA go through a similar recall a few years ago with their gaskets?

Asbestos-lite. Like diet asbestos. 😉
