Opinion on the New Dodge Charger

If you have owned a Dodge in the last 30 years you would know why it's bad. Quality is lacking no matter how nice they look.
That's why I sold my 18' Hemi Charger. 64k miles, purchased brand new, turned to junk. The electrical, the rear end, the struts, the interior panels were flaring & bucking up, the dash sometimes wouldn't work, & sometimes wouldn't start. Touchscreen had been replaced 2xs. Loved that Hemi. Monster power. Cool looks. Junk car.

Honestly I like my 2011 Mazda. In a couple years I'll maybe trade. Idk. Nissan & Mitsubishi are collabing on a Frontier hybrid gas electric truck. 45-50mpg & affordable. Plug in hybrid or regenerative options. I really like the new Nissan Frontier. Still a V6, 9spd, 24mpg. 32k. Come on, get these mids to 32mpg

Best quality truck I ever owned was my 2005 Tundra. Got my wife pregnant too many times and traded for a 2011 Suburban...that thing turned out to be a pile of crap with a bad engine design. Burned oil like crazy

I gave up on domestics a couple decades ago. Not crazy for the new Chargers styling, the 4 door looked better IMO. No matter, Dodge is at the bottom of my list, and I can’t afford a new car anyway.
I’ll stick with my Hyundai, yes it’s a cheap car, but affordable and reliable enough. Nothing like the Japanese made Toyota (1995 Tercel) or Scion (2006 xb) which were my last cars before it. I won’t bother with a US built Honda or Toyota. German, I no sprechen.

I think it is a massive upgrade, and to all the people who whine about it not having the hellcat motor, suck it up this is the way everything is going, so just accept the beautiful work Dodge did.
"Son, you have no idea what you have gotten into"

To be honest, I hate it. It all sucks, and calling that thing a muscle car is a joke. Inline 6 my a$$! WE WANT LOUD SUPERCHARGED V8!! I want to hit the gas, hear that supercharged V8 purr, and know that nothing can stop me (except for the YN task force...). This thing is less American than the 1990s blob cars (
). and don't get me started about the fake engine noises.

Dude...go to a car show and listen to the hellcat purr. your mind will be changed right then and there.

I found 22 addresses for gm here....... both gas and electric. The 2018 out front has an Indiana badge. Appears they still build them there. 🫡

Man.... I seriously hate to burst your bubble but that 18 out front as you say....
Is not an American made truck... go look on the back side of your wheels. They will say "made in china". Gm has been sourcing China parts for many years now...

They are assembled here but not much else. That "made in America " is not exactly true and ill tell you why.. there is a certain % of a product that is required to be "made in usa". So long as that % is met, it can legally just say "made in usa". That percentage t used to be 51%. So the other 49% could come from anywhere and they dont have to disclose that.

They mislead the hell out of their consumers...

Gm is literally Mexico, Canada and china... just as much as it is American..

You have no idea how many 18 gm trucks I work on.

They used to be the best.... hate to break it to you, they arent anymore..

Wanna know who is?

NONE if em.. They are all freaking trash now.. I dont care what badge is on there.... literally everything made now to these new "standards" are junk....

Oh and I forgot to mention.....

For the "gm is American " guys...

Try ordering ANY factory gm replacement parts.... see what the hell the label says when you get em... ill bet you anything 90% of em will say china...

I do this for a living and have for a darn long time........ its down right disgusting...

Two of my Fords were made in Mexico and one was made in Spain. 🤷‍♂️ I'm happy with my Subaru.
I love Subaru. I have an Outback that I bought bran new back in 2015. A guy t-boned me and made me hit the side of a city bus when I had 4,000 miles on it. Instead of totaling it, his insurance paid more than I actually paid for the car to put it back together. I still drive that car and it has been reliable.

I am a diehard GM guy....but thers a new subaru crosstrek in my garage....only the old chevys pre 2000...are worth keeping...anything newer is way overpriced and junk....I have 97...has 300K miles on it...runs like a top.....also a 99 only has 120K miles....and a 99 3500 dually with 454 with 40K miles ....all very dependable and easy to work on...obviously all parts made elsewhere back to point yea dodge sucks..we all agree with that 👍

As soon as a cloud came over a Dodge, they wouldn't start. The old ones notorious for not starting in wet weather, and for having to replace coils. Actually even some of the newer models are having coil issues.

Which ones are having coil issues? Tell me more..

I read some article somewhere online, i don't recall the models which are having issues.

I'm not having issues.
I'm a long time mechanic.
I've watched first hand over the years all these brands pump out this trash.

My curiosity is simply because I am unaware of any coil issues on any dodge products.... lifters? Hell yeah.. rockers? Yup.... cracked heads? Definitely... coils? Nah..

Only common coil issues are on fords... those bastards love eating coils...

I'm not saying that there ISN'T a problem.. I'm saying if there is, I'm unaware and would like to be educated on the issue as its my job to know this crap.

IDK if they’re still doing it but last I remember looking at new vehicles in the US they were required by law to disclose how much foreign content, by percentage was used to assemble the vehicle.
Globally sourced is what I keep hearing these days, meaning wherever/whomever can supply the needed goods for the lowest cost.
While Honda and Toyota do still garner the highest reliability ratings, they’re still well below what they were when made in Japan and shipped here. Hate to say it, but we Americans as a whole are just plain lazy and spoiled.

Never owned a Subaru but have worked on a couple, no thanks. I know they have a cult like following, but after turning wrenches and seeing the prices of the parts, nope. Funny how Toyota now offers more all wheel drive models than any other brand, Subaru gets credit for setting the trend there, for whatever it’s worth. I never felt the need for all wheel drive, even in upstate NY. 7 months out of the year it’s just sapping fuel economy I feel. My sis and bro in law had a Crosstrek, dumped it after about 3 years. He said he never went through so many brake pads on a vehicle before.
