Avoid RCHobbies for small items. I've learned the hard way that you need to spend a LOT of time searching the net for the best prices. Shipping might affect the overall expense, so keep that in mind also.
I recently purchased an item for $70 that I found on other sites for 119, 149, and 179. So, yes, you need to really search, or ask for advise on this site.

whatever works...i just need it here...gotta be cheaper then 14 bucks...eh??

Now if I could just find a magical tuner guy to help me....hahahaha

I use Amain Tower hobbies and in the past Ehobbies.

I ordered 4 maxx masher tires trinity pipe and one other thing from ehobbies took almost 2 weeks to get my tires then almost 2 more weeks to get my pipe!

And if that wasn't bad enough they were spamming my E-mail with close to 100 emails with my shipping number.

It is too bad that most LHS are like that. The couple of guys that work in mine are cool, although I had to spend some serious time in there to get them to warm up to me... that and spend money of course. LOL The owner is a bit different, but once you get to know him, he is cool. The guy in charge of the track and RC car part of the store is really cool, although if you catch him when he is not in a good mood... or really busy, he can come off as not such a nice guy. Usually though he is a really nice guy and believe it or not.. even when he is busy will not sell you anything you don't need. He will always tell you what is junk, or at least what he thinks is not worth the money. He is also the guy that maintains and runs the track out back. I try as much as I can to support the LHS for that reason.... it is the only track within 30 miles of me and it just so happens to be about 10 minutes away too. LOL Anyway I have gone on way too long. It stinks you have to get treated that way when you walk into a store that sells things that are designed to be fun, and if they don't improve their customer service... they won't last long. Over the years I have learned to ignore the "know it all types" even at the track you always get the racer that thinks he knows it all... I just smile and nod and let it go in one ear and out the other.

heh...unfortunately the hobby shops around here have been around a long time and no one has been able to give them competition....and hobbytown usa is nothing much to speak of either....there is one shop that is decent, but the owner of the shop is way more into air then cars now....which is sad....but I can understand as well....his shop is the one I spend more money at....just because he is decent to deal with...but....eh...oh well....

I must be luckey cause my lhs is acually very nice to me. If my car is broke then they take it in one the spot help me find out whats wrong, find the part ,even help me repair it, and they even give me a discount!!! Also for new commers like me the'll even take my revo out side tune it they way I like it FOR FREE!

My shop generally doesn't do anything for free... but if you are willing to sweat a bit helping out with Track maintainence, when we are all done and you have your truck with you... they will generally help you tune it for free.

I've ranted on my LHS before.

Got one 5 minutes away...
We are doing you a favor selling this to ya.
Yeah, we can order it. We'll match the internet prices.
3 weeks later I still don't have it.

Fuel is $10 more on the gallon. Guy had the nerve to tell me that if I could get it cheaper it was old fuel that would mess up my engine.

If I need fuel, it's a 45 minute drive to the shop I like.
I will support one that will help me.
Not look down on me because I ask a question or if I need something they don't have.

A quality LHS is like finding a diamond amongst the coal. There are tons of hobby shops around the country and very few of them fall into any kind of category where you can say that is a great hobby shop. They are often hard to find and when found should be supported as much as possible.

I have three or four hobby shops in my area (most are HobbyTown USAs and aren't worth the space they occupy), but I drive the nearly thirty minutes it takes to the one I prefer to shop at. In fact, I do more business with them than I do online. They are the exact opposite of all the negatives that have been posted in this thread, and I consider myself fortunate to have found them.

So, while I understand the negative treatment and the end result of the negative treatment, please do not give up on LHSes. Keep looking around and you might find one that is perfect for you...like an old pair of comfortable shoes. But you might find that you are not so fortunate...and that leaves you with the online world...from this site to the many others...there is a wealth of information and good deals to be had. Just have to look for them.
