I hope they are smart enough to cover up the IP if they are trying to pedal all the stolen stuff with this story. šŸ¤£
The story is wrong.
Too many holes.
No way I believe the hobby shop would stick a 16 year old kid with a $7k bill.
Traxxas, as much as I don't care for them, would even be able to see the bad publicity and possible legal issues stemming from this.
It just wouldn't be worth it for shop or Traxxas.
This stuff is SCREAMING hot!
It didn't fall off the back of the truck, it fell IN the truck when the store became a drive-thru! šŸ˜²šŸ¤£

What a thread! šŸ¤£

I have sooo many questions. I came late, whoā€™s took a screenshot of the now deleted receipt?

On another noteā€¦ good local hobby shops are dwindling. If you say youā€™re going to buy something, prepay and they order itā€¦ you better be prepared to spend the money. Especially that muchā€¦ $7k is enough to make it or break it for some smaller shops. Donā€™t agree with getting a refund for that large of an order. I also donā€™t agree with any retail place allowing a minor to purchase $7k+ in goods without some sort of written/verbal approval from a legal guardian. This story has more holes in it than Bonny and Clydeā€™s getaway car.

If this whole story is true, I am living WAY in the past! I have NEVER accidently spent $7000... even on purpose!
I can't imagine how this could happen or how there is no recourse for the parents.
I know, 16 but still is a minor in US at least.
How does a 16 year old kid have that much cash and parents not be watching the cash AND the kid!!!???
I was young and raised independent too but but not to this degree! This is crazy!
I won't be ordering any of it anyway. šŸ¤£

I got under the influence a few weeks back and "accidentally" spent $400 on amazon. I thought that was bad...

7,000 maple syrup bills is equal to about $4,800 in freedom eagle bills. Make it a little less shocking... but it still a LOT of money. The down payment on my house 3 years ago was $6,000 with an FHA loan. If I had $4800 burning a hole in my pocket at 16 I'd defiantly not buy 7 RTR rc's... What doesn't make sense is he has strict parents if the internet monitoring is true, but he's completely capable of earning, saving and spending money freely? Especially THAT much. My parents would've beat me upside the head and drug me through a rose bush if I spent almost 5 grand on RC cars while living at home. šŸ¤£

Something is still fishy. It doesn't smell like a scammer... but it doesn't smell genuine. He either has some stolen goods or he doesn't have any of it and was trying to get some internet clout.

Thats what I'm saying! Mom and Dad were cool and I was a wild child but I bought cars and boats and stuff with my money when I was young. RC spending WAS monitored by Dad. He KNEW I would do what this kid did!!! šŸ¤£
My a$$ would STILL be red from that whopping!!! šŸ˜šŸ˜²šŸ¤•
You can always get your money back with powersports and boats. Buy used during the off season and sell a couple years later during the riding season. Pretty much free fun! Just don't buy new. I paid $2300 for my Yamaha Wr250f at the beginning of winter and now that it is warming up, there's a few for sale for $3,000+ on marketplace.

If only RC was like that. I'd be wheeling, dealing and trying every RC ever made. šŸ¤Ŗ
