Why they gotta do this to me? I passed on the first Hyper Transformer Truck, but this new Hobao Hyper TT2.0 looks pretty good to me. Hybao offers the Hyper TT 2.0 as an RTR, and an ARR.

For that price range you could also look at the PR SB401R-T SPORT(long name) from PRRACING. My buddy just got there 2wd sct, I'm curious to see how it performs and holds up.

Looks pretty rad!

Tell me how it goes! I'm interested in the PR Racing stuff as well.

I was so close 🤏 going that route but there was no way to incorporate a 32P center diff spur gear. I tried a few weeks of asking around PR Racing groups/threads for a work around. For my situation, a 48P spur gear out in the open would have been destroyed very quickly.

That little Hyper is an absolute MANIAC.. There was a national race about 50mi from where I am in NC, and one of the local guys was absolutely WEARING OUT every fast guy with a Tekno ET410 on the track.. Like they were running F’ing 1s packs.. Don’t sleep on Hobao being RTR, or ARR… They’re super nice vehicles, reliable af, handle KILLER, and FAST. I’ve been talking myself out of this truck since that race 8mos ago now…😅

You have other priorities old man ... 99.5 problems and TT aint one ;-)

Steering Knuckles

I'm gonna have to dig deeper into what comes stock (steering knuckles) on the TT 2.0's front end. The manual shows old part number 11214 (steering knuckles) but there is an updated part 11214N on the website and both parts are shown as standard parts. Both sets are included in package?

Why in the world would you release a 2.0 and not have the updated part on the platform? Hopefully, the manual was not fully proofread and the "beefier" part is included on the new TT. It's not really a big deal to some, but, for me not being a fan of pillow ball suspensions, it's even a bigger obstacle to overcome.

Pillow Ball Options

Ok, while looking at optional parts, these popped up...

I'm intrigued now that I see the "POM" option available.

I never knew such things existed, not just for HoBao's TT, but for any pillow ball platform. Smoother operation is the added benefit?

Brass Balls

Again, it seems that I live under a rock. Somebody talk to me about any advantages/disadvantages when using brass. Is it better to use them with optional aluminum steering knuckles (shown below)? I'm just tossing the idea of owning another mini truggy around again.

I’ve just been thinking that Hobao bumped their head on the brass… I personally would want them as light as possible.. not as HEAVY as possible.. and brass is obviously crazy SOFT.. not ideal for a pillow ball.. -Especially for use with an aluminum steering block (which I have never been a fan of over plastic/composite).

That being said-their plastic steering blocks include the steering arm itself into the mold. That’s fairly terrible design to me too. Plastic/composite steering block w/7075 or CF steering plates is all I’ll use.. furthermore-I definitely don’t approve of their weirdo “external” (if you will) PB retention setup on the plastic blocks.. The tried and true threaded cap setup found in their aluminum blocks is the way to go.. but then I have to run silly aluminum blocks.. Uggggh… This is something I don’t know that I can get around, because I really doubt I’ll ever get over it lol..

I have ALWAYS liked Hobao, but there have always been certain things they do that make me wanna puke, that literally kill an entire vehicle for me lol.. 🤮😅🤷🏻‍♂️ I’d wager that @SoCalTazer would have similar opinions, and he’s FORGOTTEN more about OFNA/HongNor/Hobao than most will ever know lol..

Brass is highly resistant to corrosion, and doesn’t bind easily even without lubrication. It’s a popular choice for bushings. Steel and aluminium can bind easily.

I’d give POM a try since it’s also self-lubricating and weighs less.

I'm assuming part #11214 is what you're talking about? I'm kind of thinking I'd enjoy the different approach to adjusting pillow ball tightness like on the TT platform.

I've been pretty good at talking myself out of buying the not so mainstream RC brands, however, HoBao and its TT 2.0 are increasingly tempting. Who knows? Maybe wife will see wish list and things will just appear. :p:cool:

That's the kind of info needed on a part's description. It certainly would help me better understand why a company would offer many pillow ball material options. I used pencil/graphite every chance I got on my Kraton's front suspension and now trying out some aluminum/Delrin caps. HoBao's POM (Delrin) pillow balls would most likely end up on my shopping cart.

Shocks

Going through the TT 2.0 manual and seeing bladder style shocks, with two-piece caps, and e-clips... I don't know that the HoBao will make it on my wish list. So many things to think about. I'm looking at the moment, but not finding any one-piece bleeder caps for the HoBao.

Am I being too picky for just wanting the mini truggy as a basher? I should have just not looked at the manual. I know too much now.

It’s a Telephone game between the designers and copywriters. Or, there are no copywriters, just purchasers who upload new products to a website without any regard to improving the sales.

I was a senior copywriter for years before starting my studies in mechanical engineering. Product descriptions meant a better standard of living for my family. It aches me to see how poorly excellent ideas are sometimes marketed.

I have HoBao H2 shocks on my RB10, and HoBao H4e shocks on my M-07. They are very high-quality shocks and these cars aren’t serious racing machines to me, so the shocks serve the purpose perfectly.

I prefer 2-piece caps when using bladders because the top eyelet doesn’t trap air underneath when tightening the collar. The H2 shocks have 3.5 mm shafts so they are pretty much bombproof for 1/10, and the slight increase in E-clip size makes them easier to work with.

I use a tiny dab of Green Slime, Knipex pliers (so precisely made they are more like tweezers on steroids), and a special pushing tool to handle the E-clips and have no trouble with them.
