I KNEW this was coming…😅
I repeat, not my RC 📣:thumbs-up:. I'm not being sneaky. I would never overpower an RC THAT much. And, besides, I don't believe in off-road RCs with on-road tires! 🙌 🙌

Dammit. Somebody buy one of these kits and send it to me for academic purposes. I just want to find out how many projects I can fit on my workbench 😄

This thing just looks sick. I love my 10th scale uggies. They take up less space in the RC room 😉

One-Piece Motor Mount

I may have to break out old "skinny" handled tool for this one. It's still a lot of angle with the rear clip attached and working around the shock tower/turnbuckles. I totally get the reason why manufacturers design a platform with a one-piece motor mount... mainly lower cost. I'm just not used to it. This thing makes Tekno's one-piece motor mount look like a piece of cake.

Diff Removal & Seventeen

Yes, Charles 'Kip' Winger sang/talked about it (number/age) being a problem.
Not that it matters to most people, but seventeen screws are to be removed if wanting to take out the center diff.

The diff brace/motor mount won't allow the center diff to be easily pulled up & out from the chassis. They totally encapsulate the diff...

I guess I'm spoiled, because they are not like the four screws removal game plan that I'm used to on my other 1/10 scale 4wd platforms as seen here...

So, you got one or is this someone else's? Did the overpowered one blow up yet?
The person that has the "overpowered one" never replied back.

I'm currently trying to get a TT 2.0 up and running. I got too many other RCs/projects to work on. One thing's for sure, I'm taking the long way around at getting the mini truggy operational.

The Viper VX4R.45 motor, that I'm currently working with, has a 5mm shaft. This is posing a problem which I hope to rectify shortly. I'm determined to make it work.

What’s the issue with the 5mm shaft? Is this because you want to run the factory 10T pinion? Tekno makes the MOD 1 pinions down to 11T with the 5mm bore.. from 11-30T.. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Also-I’m far from a Losi parts fan, but they do offer one in 10T.. I just wouldn’t put any real force on the set screw, for fear of breaking it..

Finding a MOD1 pinion gear with a smaller diameter shank is the issue.

Can you not mount the pinion so the set screw and "shank" is on the side away from the motor?
Negative on that.

Edit: None that I currently have anyway. Yes, it'll work. It's finding pinion gear with teeth that are not so wide. I should have a couple potential pinion gears in my possession soon.

I ran into that exact same problem with my drag Slash.

I'm about ready break out the Dremel and go to town on that :rage:🤬 motor mount.
I was thinking the exact same thing. Would suck to have to do that. But it obviously wasn't designed for 5mm shaft motors. So that might be where you end up.

First picture is with stock Hobao 3.17mm bore MOD1 pinion gear next to 5mm bore MOD1 pinion gear (both 13T).

Not enough clearance for larger 5mm bore pinion gear & set screw.

So at least you don't have to take out much. What if you got a 5mm drill bit and chucked it up in your drill and mounted the pinion on there and used your drill as a lathe to sand the pinion down some? You'd only need to take about .010" off at most to be enough clearance.

... plus the additional clearance needed for set screw. :)

Thank goodness for motor having longer shaft to work with. I had to reverse the pinion orientation only because the set screw was too long. I bet proper clearance could be had with a M4x3mm set screw. I ready to move on.

The motor mount is a beautiful color. I like the gold, I am guessing that's about all it has going for it.
Well, yes, it's a beautifully machined piece and not cast or stamped. It's just "me" that is making things difficult. A normal(?) person would probably use a 3650/540 size motor with a 3.17mm shaft... easy, peasy. I had a couple backup plans if the Viper motor didn't pan out. The chosen motor I'm using was just sitting dormant for ten years, and was begging me to be put to use. It's basically a new motor with one or two minutes of run time on it. The darn thing trashed a new T4 tranny  🤬.
