Decided I should probably have a build thread for this one, yes I have been slacking lately. Had to back and find so e previous pics to do this right.

Then added Injora rims and Mud Terrain tires.

So now back to tadays addition. Been wanting a roof rack but easn't sure what would fit. After looking at my Traxxas TRX4 Land Rover, the size looks about right, so I looked for roof racks that would fit the TRX4. I ended up buying one from Injora.

It comes with a light bar wich was an added bonus. First step put light covers on LED rack. One scew attaches to the back of each cover to hold in place.

Next up attach light bar to roof rack. Held on with four screws, nice bonus feature, it has alignment pins to help keep them straight while you tighten down the screws.

Securely in place.

Next up drill some holes in the roof to thread the bolts through. Yes, I know I did a messy job, I was being lazy.

Next was a little trickier for old fat guy fingers. There are spacers that go between the rack and the body, well guess who lost one in the garage while drilling holes? I had to make one, fortunately I did it without too much trouble. Just a few choice words. And of course I accidentally deleted the photo I took of all the screws and spacers.

Anyhow, next up I almost forgot to drill a hole in the roof for the light connector to drop through. But got that taken care of and the roof rack tightened down.

One thing, I had to track down was a Y harness, I need it so I could plug in the light bar without sacrificing the headlight and tail lights it came with.

The roof rack also came with the side ladder which looks pretty good.

Here it is all lit up.

That's it for this round. More to come in the future.

I like that a lot! I'm slacking on getting the hub hexes so I can install new wheels on my daughter's ascent 18. What y connectors did you use? I bought some off Amazon (hate to admit it) but I'm returning them, couldn't get them to work on my FCX18.

Nice walk through on the install. Looks like a quality product. Love the side ladder. Really sets it off. Remember those side ladder days back in the world. Step up on the rim, step up onto the tire and then onto the ladder. You mounted it perfectly for simulating that exercise. -AC

I have a whole bag of misc. Wires and stuff from when I was mostly flying rc planes. Pretty sure this one was from Horizon.

@OnwardGuinevere Your harness may be good, make sure you plug it in with the dark wires on the same side, two pin connector all the way to the dark wire side leaving one pin open on the light wire side of the Y harness.

Flying planes is ridiculously difficult

Just takes a lot of practice. I learned the hard way (self taught). This pretty much equalled a lot of carnage along the way. 🤣

Now with all of the software upgrades it's easier to learn, but nothing beats a good mentor.

Yea I was hedging just keeping them. I'm pretty good with wiring, but for some reason couldn't get it to work on my FMS when I was trying to get my rock lights working. The tricky part with the FMS is all the wires are black 😑.
This is why I have:

Look for the white stripe on one of the black wires. That will be your signal wire 😉

Did you add any weight with the tires? I've been wanting to get to work on mine, you may have just spurred me on a little...
Just aluminum wheels, no weight. Still have to add some weight to the scout. I added the Injora link set to my Ascent 18's and it adds quite a bit of weight. Not sure if they are the right length for the scout, still need to check on that.

I got the steel front links from Redcat when I ordered mine, since I knew the weight was biased to the rear. Not sure how it climbs stock cuz I installed the links straight away, but It climbs well! So must have worked :)

Links are the same on both.
