Yikes. Dizzy after watching those four vids. What a great track and even greater layout. Regional class for certain. Perhaps even Nat's level? Love the drag strip table top. Or was that marked out as a starting grid? Great place to start from. Drivers radio spot the cars rather than placing them by hand?

Like you have reverse enabled on the buggy. Gets you out of trouble without having to self-marshal. Was that you yawning running the truck? Stay awake, lots of laps yet to complete. :D

Worth the trip for sure. Thanks for sharing the vids. -AC
Lol. That's my dad. He records my videos. He's always tired lol

Regional class and track yes. On this current layout the table top is a starting grid.

Wanted to go up here for a while since a local carpet track is non existent and I haven't ran on carpet since October. But during the winter the nearest carpet track will be open which is a hour north from home. This track is just an extra 40 minutes northwest

That's my dad. He records my videos
I keep telling him to record on the driver's stand. It will be better for the viewers. I guess not, oh well. 😅🤣

The new fuzz bites for the buggy are awesome on black crc. For the slash, I'm using my og set of carpet tires which are 8 yrs old and I spun the wheel hexes on the wheels so gonna get new tires for the slash when winter comes, was running Schumacher mini pins but trimmed 2 rows of the front side walls off at the old track for less traction rolling, but here it's great. I miss carpet so much. But, I do like more speed. This track has more jumps and is more compact.

Went to the track this past Saturday. No racing as we didn't have enough people so just practice day. Turned up the motor endbell timing up a few degrees (don't have a motor tuner so idk the actual timing but guessing 47 or 48 degrees. Was a bit faster down the straight which was good. Adjusting my driving and tuning my new radio. Got driving lessons from my buddy Rhys on how to not take corners / turns wide and keeping my driving smooth and consistent, with the flow. My fastest lap that day, and ever was a 17.4. LETS GOOO!!!! On normal laps I'm running 18s to 20s. My OG set of tires are done. A hole in the rubber started to form and got bigger so I pulled out my other set which was semi used from my buddy which hasn't raced in a long time. Those wheels dates April of 2015 so yeah, after a few batteries the rubber started to gain heat and soften up so should be good on tires till next year which ill switch to Jcon Smoothie 2s. Also next time ill get another bottle of yellow dot compound as I'm running out. I got yellow/green dot on hand but I'm not liking it. Takes longer to dry and isn't as sticky as yellow dot.

noticed you mentioned you race at the track, i’ll hopefully be racing there once I move to maryland at some point for work lol
Nice. Yeah The Track in gaithersburg, is ideally the only mainstream track left in the maryland area that is well known. Mimi has been here for 30 years now and still here. Hopefully to be here in the future too. There are about 5 other tracks in MD but they are less known and are backyard or private tracks mostly. If I wanted to do indoor carpet I have to go all the way up to either waynesburo pa, or york pa.

wow that’s really unfortunate to hear, does the track or the other tracks get a decent showing usually?

I never been to any of the other tracks but it depends on the track mainly.

Scope which is in Hanover MD, his track is a private track, he does have a FB group though. Its a outdoor / backyard "just for fun" track, no racing. But from what I seen he gets bout 10 or so more people there on the weekends. (offroad)
Bryan Davies is in Port Deposit, backyard track, he has offroad dirt and oval. He does races once in the blue moon. Mostly a coupe every other month I'm guessing.
Key City Hobbies in Fredrick is a hobby shop, mini crawler track, and drifting. can't comment on how many people show up as I'm mainly in the offroad scene.
Jims hobby shop off rt 50 right after the bay bridge is a little hobby shop and has a small "just for fun" dirt track.
Lightning Buggies RC in Denton is a backyard mini offroad track. When he hosts races on Wednesday nights and points series (when listed) they get 8 drivers
There is a hobby shop and track in SOMD, forgot the name but they do mini rally and 1RC oval racing.
Also forgot, there is 180 Raceway in middle river which is 20 minutes away from me, but they are only during the winter. Indoors, and onroad racing. They have a couple big races a in January / February. TCS being one of them.
There are also 410 No Prep drag racing group which I believe they race at Arundel Middle School on weekends when listed, and SOMD RC Drag club, those are the real RC drag guys. I don't really bother to go do a drive all the way to SOMD. Just a bit too far for my liking.

oh wow okay thanks for this, it sounds hard to find off road racing then in the area. once I move I found an apartment complex in linthicum I liked so that’s where I plan on living

Yeah the only real racing is in gaithersburg. We do run a 4x4 sct class on offroad nights. which is wednesdays and saturdays. Mostly in the winter though. My buddy Justin, he has the same tekno, but in the SL (Super Lightweight) version of the car and he is a very fast guy.
Here was the link to that race: https://thetrackgaithersburg.liverc.com/results/?p=view_race_result&id=5050768

I've been trying to race my 2wd slash for ages now but really can't seem to get it to go fast and compete with the 4wds. Been looking into used older SCTEs though. Like I have the money 🤣

i’ll have to see a racing schedule and classes to plan my next car🤣 I have the money for this but just not being financially responsible oh well😅

Back at it!
Last weekend I was having transponder issues but I surprisingly got 2nd in the A main. Got new rear tires from a local racer. Just in need of new front tires and now a transponder.

Today, got to the track a little late but they did a extra round of heats because of us which is thankful. Met up with my buddy and it was his first time racing. He had a B64 for 4wd and a 22 5.0 for 2wd. In heat 3, not that bad since I didn't have any practice prior. In Heat 4 I made TQ and started 2nd in the A Main. Moved up to first and stayed consistent for the whole time! And this was my FIRST A-MAIN WIN EVER!!!! 😍 My heart was beating FAST for those whole 6 minutes lol 🤣. And I was rippin it out there aswell. Dad wasn't there recording it since he was getting his own lunch. Yes, I did have transponder issues last weekend but my buddy had a spare AMB RC 2 wire transponder that worked with the timing system so thanks to him for that! Also in between heats I ran his tekno sct410.3 out on the track for like 5 minutes. It is a bit heavy but so FUN and FAST. Really wanting a 4wd sct now. WAY better than a basic 2wd rear motor slash. He had in a 10BL120 SD esc with a hobbywing 3652 4 pole SD motor. Tekin servo and a NB4 radio. He recorded video so ill catch that for yall in a few. They also ran 2wd old school / vintage buggies today and got video of it. Also picked up a new build. Stay tuned on that.

You must have had wings on.
Doesn't every buggy have wings? Lol 🤣
Nice lap time compared to everyone else
Yep. Practice makes perfect. I went down for a practice day like 4 or 5 days during this summer and every day I went, the faster I've gotten since the day before. Hoping I can keep this up during the winter when I do go to the local carpet tracks up north. Really want to get some carpet action in.

To be fair / honest. The higher level / faster racers than me are running a mod/modified motor in their cars while I'm running 13.5 blinky. And its a 13.5 blinky spec class so can't blame myself or my car. If I want to get even faster, Might have someone with a motor tuner, tune up my motor a bit and maybe tweak my esc settings and see how I like it since I myself ain't that technical with electronic tuning. But other than that the only way I can potentially get with the higher ups is getting a mod esc/motor. I think a 10bl120 sd g2 and a hobbywing 6.5 is a perfect match. My buddy is running a 8.5 and same esc in his B64. But I'm still faster. Ill get him down for some practice days in the future.

Edit: Last weekend I did up my motor endbell timing by a few degrees. I believe it was at 45 but now its at 48 or 49. Just by eyeing the dashes on the endbell. It did made my motor a bit more top end down the straight which did help. Gearing is next. Probably up on the pinion but I don't wanna go too high where I overheat the motor constantly cause that's a no no. Especially my practice sessions are usually 10-15 minutes long. Heats are 5 minutes. And mains are 6 minutes.

So, how did you cheat and not get caught? 😜 congrats! Practice, practice, practice.
He used Lithium grease in his bearings 🤣

Went racing yesterday!
New body and tires on the buggy seem to be working well! Prob gonna need new rear rubbers in like another 3 or 4 race days.

Did pretty well considering I haven't been out for a month.

Ran the slash during practice and this was my real first time getting to know the car on the track. Pretty works pretty well in the "oval" layout of the track. Mainly just a track basher. NO WAY that it can keep up with other SCTs. I can keep up on the straight but in the turns I get lost. With the slash if I come out of the sweeper and on the straight, if grip is high and if I pull full throttle I can wheelie down the whole straight. Should have caught that on video lol. Also took the mini b out. Yea it was slippin all over the place and I really couldn't get traction. It can clear the triple, but can't land it. My buddy is going to see if he can get some slicks for his associated 14B and see how it does on track. Probably way better than the mini b tbh just because its a bit bigger and 4wd. And here is a screw for the front bulkhead that backed out slightly on the mini b and I landed wrong....
