Next time I'll be racing is (hopefully) later this month @ Beach RC

Cars:
Traxxas Slash - Mod SCT or 2WD SCT class
Traxxas Rustler - Mod Truck or 2WD ST class
Associated B74.1D - 4WD 13.5 Buggy class
Losi Mini B - Mini B Open class

Tracks I go to:
The Track (Gaithersburg MD) - 1/10 indoor sealed clay - offroad
Beach RC (Myrtle Beach SC, when on vacation) 1/10 indoor hard packed dirt - offroad

Do you drive to Myrtle or fly? Because world of RC in NC is about 10 min off 95 on your way between MD and SC. Would be cool if you caught a race with us. Lots of guys go between beach RC and WORC for larger events.

We drive. Most years we go down during the summer. I discovered beach RC in 2022 when I was getting into RC. Next year after that I dragged my uncle down with his RC stuff lol. I went this year for spring break. I'll be back July next year. I'll probably just be doing normal Wednesday night club racing there. Super fun place and amazing people. Wish I can spend my whole vacation week there just at the track lol. Parents won't allow that though lol.

First time at First State Hobbies for buggy club racing. 2wd 17.5 and 4wd 13.5. Great race day with @BarnFabRC

4WD:
Got new front tires, same old fuzz bites. Old ones, tread was fine, but stripped hex on one wheel so I just figured it was best to get a new pair. They took all race day to "break" in so during my heats and main I couldn't really "push" the car, I got some faster lap times of 19.2 after the mains for practice. Overall in the A Main of 7 drivers I got 6th place. (Sorry in advanced to any drivers I cut off. My driving was a bit poor today)

2WD: Didn't have any practice prior so I just jumped straight into racing. Learned on it pretty fast as it drives like the mini b. Tires are a bit worn like I said but they were perfect / manageable for me. During practice between qual1/2 I had a breakage but got quickly back up and running for qual 2. In the D main, woah, D, yea, 2wd 17.5 is the most popular at this track while the wheeler class only had 7 drivers lol, I placed 5th. Not that bad. I had the fastest lap out of everyone which was a 19.2, could have been a normal lap, not sure, but I highly think it was a lap where I crashed / jumped wrong on the table top and landed in the other lane causing me to get ahead of a car or 2. Sorry not sorry if it was that lap that I got my fastest lap on. Lol. Its just fun club racing, who cares, I surely don't. I just having fun. Also a funny practice session after the mains.

Are you loving the 2wd?
Once I get a new servo and body I probably will lol

Oh yea this is my first track that I actually had to "pass" tech in order to race. Just needed to raise my ride height on both cars just a few mm's to get in. They also look for weight. No idea what they weigh, they are above the limit though! Although the tech guy said my 4wd is a bit heavy so maybe time for some titanium and weight saving parts but... my car works well for me so I ain't that worried. I don't have moneys for fancy titanium's.

And I suppose it was a skinny fella? Calling your 4x4 fat???!!! 😲
I always felt like my Optima was heavy anyways... Since its got all that weight and traction, put in a motor that turns to plasma after it exceeds the speed of light and let'her rip!!! 🤣

Glad you were able to sort that dogbone situation out. Would’ve been a bummer to have to shelf it for the day.

Well, what a long day it was yesterday. Raced at the Factory for their Christmas Cookie Classic race. 55 bucks running 2 classes. This was my first big/long race day. 18 races per qualifier rounds! And almost like 50 or so drivers? Classes: 2wd Open buggy, 2wd 17.5, 2wd 17.5, 4wd Open buggy, 2wd sct open, 2wd open truck. Novice, and spec slash. New to me layout and didn't have any practice before hand since getting to a track early is hard for me due to schedules. Got there at 10:30 and didn't leave till 7 when I got done my 4wd B main. Very tiring day, and almost 11k steps I tracked.

With the TLR in the 17.5 D main I got 5th out of 7 people. With the AE in 4wd open B main I got 2nd, out of 2 since 2 people left, was right behind my buddy. Could have pushed the car more but didn't feel like it since I need some more time behind the wheel and stuff. Didn't win anything but it was my first big race, so I didn't expect to win anything. But plenty of cookies (cookie pot luck)

Oh yea, tech situation. Apparently the TLR was a bit underweight at 1769 grams. One of my buddies said, here's a quarter, tape it to your battery. Dude it worked. Right at the limit of 1774 lol. (A quarter weighs around 5 grams. So of course it would have worked)

Also checked out the dirt oval and got some video for you guys. They had about 20 racers down there so about 80 people in the whole building. Also had lunch at Pit lane grill (parked food trailer in the court of their building)

You can check out the live streams for any racing since I am slacking on getting footage for you guys lol.
Oh yea just gotta remember if I do go for a bigger attendance race, I just have to bring my extension cord since most people sit out front in the pits where all the power was. So I had to have my charger plugged in near my buddies pit spot since I got there a bit late lol.
Also, got some 50/50 tickets but didn't win anything :( But hey, proceedings went to Toys for tots :)

Giant pizza??? 👍🤣
Sounds like long but fun day! Nice work with both cars!
Are you happy with the TLR still?

Yea, once I get a new servo and new tires and more behind the wheel time I should improve. It's just hard trying to find consistent practice/race/track days during the school year and with parents schedules. Like I won't be able to go out and race for another good 2 weeks and probably due to whats going on at home with repairs and such, might not be able to get parts right away.

I think I've watched some dirt Oval racing at that track and iirc the camera was almost exactly where you were standing.

Been a while folks!
Race day at the local dirt track.

Ran:
4wd buggy
2wd buggy (Broke in the middle of 2nd qualifier)
Mini (Mixed class of Mini B's, Associated Reflex's, LC Racing, and one 1/10 vintage 2wd buggy, I think it was a kyosho ultima,( @CertifiedMike reference, lol)

Also got some more typhon parts from my buddy which is a set of stock typhon shocks, wheel hexes, and a wing. So now I only need arms, some hardware, some drilling, and a wing mount. And patience to put it together. (Update on the Typhon soon hopefully!)

Also got some more big news which Ill talk about in a different thread.

4wd buggy goes well as always. 2wd buggy have some traction issues. not enough front traction. Even with using the most aggressive compound. Smoothie LP silvers, or maybe ProMotion slicks, going on the list next.
Mini B went well too. The only issue is still traction. Gonna put the fronts on the rear and rip them up in the street and get them worn down to slicks and get some heat in them. If those don't work, Ill pick up those new pairs of the newly released Jcon Smoothie Greens for the mini. Driving is a bit rusty. Actually 4wd qualifier 3 went pretty well, was very consistent and rarely did crash!

All in all, great day. Tiring day in the beginning when I was running 3 classes!

And hint, ill be running some 4wd mod SCT there in the future!

22 breakage. Guessing that screw for the axle backed out, and then RIP my bearings.

If your not going to come in first, you should just quit and practice your knitting! :wtf: 🤣

Glad to hear you got some track time, I know you've been chompin' at the bit. :thumbs-up:

guy pitting next to me on friday said he had raced there recently. Said he hated the sealed surface because it just ate through tires.

Been running the same tires on my 4wd buggy since September. To be fair this set only has 4 race days on it. Hey, it don't eat through tires like on carpet!

If you start out on bar tires and run them out till they're slicks they'll last double the time. Assuming if you don't want traction instantly when you buy the set. Traction sets with them after about 10 or so race days from what I seen. I run these tires till the rubber falls apart, or until I see the insert lol.

Yeah, I think it's all preferences. I've never raced on that kind of surface so I really don't have an opinion. Wet clay is all i know 😄

1 Ultima vintage in with the mini class? Interesting. How did it do?
It looks like either your cars are getting better or you are getting to be a better driver! 😎😁👍
Too bad about that broken screw tho! 😐
