Racing is something I would like to do. At this point I have looked at many different options. How did you finally commit to a particular platform?
I own a tt02 that could race indoor carpet stock class....but the build is an epic street basher that does great on asphalt and ok on carpet. While I could change the set up to a more carpet friendly idea, it's currently so much fin I don't think I want to.
I have a associated sr27 which I have been working on getting race ready. The major draw back to this idea is I have only been to the lhs 1 time when the mini track was out and available for practice. So all set up and tuning takes place on the carpet oval, when the mini track comes out the surface is so much different it doesn't matter.
I have a mini b, which I have to practice on the same indoor carpet track as the 1/10 scale cars and often take my chances being the 1st loser of the demolition derby....which is expensive, and makes for bad practice driving....great practice wrenching and swearing. 2 areas I am already accomplished.
I almost bought a 1rc edm car today. Except they were racing them for a bit until losi came out with the Nascar 1/12 scale and they just moved over to those.
So they are obsolete in a competitive sense no matter how cool they are.

When I started, there was 2wd and 4wd buggy, novice and sportsman classes.
Since my Hornet wasn't keeping up with a lot of the 2wd and I wanted a Turbo Optima BAD... so I bought one and raced it.

I think a lot of the other classes are sort of fly-by-night. Like you said, today its oval, tomorrow its stock cars, next is sprint... I don't have money nor time to buy, buy parts and tires, batteries... set up, learn to drive a new class of RC every 3 months.

I would prob stay in 2wd or 4wd buggy. Stock or mod is up to you and the track.

Have you been to a few races lately? What classes look fun to you?

Mixing scales on a track is tough. There is no such thing as a small accident when all the cars on the track are twice the size as your buggy!!! 🤕

This Optima Mid I'm building is for the track. It was easy to pick up where I left off. I have wanted to build this car for a very long time. Racing it will make me happy, 1st or last place. 😎

I have really enjoyed my practice on the indoor carpet oval. Although I don't currently own anything that they race the oval with. The losi Nascar is not that interesting to me. I like the idea of racing the mini b....it is proving challenging as mentioned.

Doesn't RC Madness host the Mini Nationals? Something Id look.into. And suggest more mini racing on the 1/10 carpet off-road.

That's what I tried to do locally a few years ago when my old track closed but it seems like no one really wants to run minis/have interest in them so might be also the same thing for you but I hope they get a mini class going again. I just use my mini for my basement mini track from time to time and a in between rounds practice car.

My 1/10 race program usually consists of my 4wd 13.5 wheeler and my 2 wheel 17.5. although hoping to add and do some stadium truck 13.5 with my rustler to replace my 2wd buggy class for the meanwhile as I get my 22 running and more durable... Again.

I believe have a mini racing club on Thursday nights...which I work. They also have an upcoming trophy race for the mini. My only problem is I want to compete... not throw a car in the mix I think might do well but can't get the practice in without getting run over.
There are some guys there that run minis but I hardly see them practicing for those reasons.

I have committed to the tt02 being a street basher, it's just way too fun as it sits to mess that up. So now I hear the expression I want is.. it's gonna rip!
Just look at that fancy brushed 3 pole 13t sitting in there. Given some oil and a nice unloaded bench break in. Super smooth. .

I miss old school brushed power.

I had a TT02 a few years ago. Couldn't really get myself to like it much as I didn't want to drop a ton of money into it to get it working and driving well. Wanted to get into Onroad racing with it since my local onroad track is only seasonal and only 20 minutes away, while my 3 local offroad tracks are usually an hour + drive. Id still want to get into Onroad but in the back of my mind, I'm like, I need jumps and air time. Plus my local onroad track really doesn't have a box stock TT02 type class for regular club racing, besides the yearly TCS race so trying to compete with a TT02 against high end Xray and TamiyaTRF TCs with a range from 25.5-21.5-Mod class type motors, ain't gonna do well at all. Plus for me Onroad is so fast paced compared to offroad. Maybe its just me but... 🤷‍♂️

Although me and @luke66 have been keeping an eye on that 3Racing Cero TC kit that's only around 130ish bucks. I Think that's a great budget kit for getting into Onroad. If I ever were to get into Onroad Id still buy new over used since I want something to build up on my own. Especially because I never owned or worked or wrenched on a belt drive car before. Lol.

I bought the tt02 when they said stock class. When I built it exactly as intended from the kit with no upgrades it was actually a really fun cheap car. Then I was told stock is really you can't change the motor or esc, and must run spec tires.. after that everything else is fair game.....and so it went. I built something that makes me smile, but is no longer able to race in any available classes.

That's always something nice to do.

Same thing with my slash. Too heavily modified to race spec slash but doesn't handle that well to keep up with the SCTs in the 2wd 13.5 class. Lol. But at the time I was doing all of the upgrades I wasn't even racing anyways.

I'll have to see if there's a "vintage " class I can run the Bolink cars in. I also have an RJ Speed open wheel sprint car I would love to race. I honestly think I'm very limited in places for either one.
I would build a car for bolink/rj carpet oval. Rc madness has both indoor and outdoor ovals. The closest high grip legit dirt oval I know of is in fitchburg ma, and I believe they have loose dirt outdoor oval.

I have ceased campaigning my Heisenburg Cup (Stadium Trucks) and started a\n off season campaign for Losi NASCAR, bone stock and brushless modified leagues. (Building cars for both at this time) It doesn't sound like you'll ever get into that, though.
In all fairness I think it's the Nascar part of these that doesn't hold my interest. I stopped watching not long after Dale Jarret went with the ups sponsor and started competing for being the obstacle around 27th place.
Which answers the question. What can brown do for you??

I lost interest after Dale Sr died.

I have an RJ Speed Outlaw Sprint sitting here waiting to be built. I'll be getting it out of the box this week.
I know they race the losi Nascar Saturday mornings at rcmadness. Which was the previous time slot for the 1rc racing. I believe Saturday nights are open, and Tuesday nights are also open on the carpet oval. Both are times I could make work.
