That's a nice looking rig OFNA1. Almost looks new still. Much cleaner than the one I got in trade. It's always nice to see grown ups sell things...

What tires/wheels are those that aren't on the truck? Any issues with fitment?

RCRipper,
The 2.5 is plenty for the truck with the right gearing. Even with a bell that is 2T smaller than stock, mine screams. It would easily keep up with my Aftershock running an LRP28. It's weird driving something so light and 2wd again though. Fun, but different.

is the motor broken in? and have u tuned the gearing at all? because i have no idea how to mess with the gearing.. i will think about it

I have the gt2 and it rips,I run the team kit that did not come with the engine and i put a os in it and it will wheelie on command, but after reading this thread and seing the jato offered to you i would jump on it,that thing looks like new and a good place to start, and if you ended up not liking it you could get your money back easy!!!!!! I say buy it you wont go wrong!!!

keep in mind I'm new idk really anything about tinkering with the engine i dont wanna mess anything up. i dont have the slightest idea where to start.. i dont like not knowing how to mess with stuff it bothers me.. i am trying to learn. actually i was thinkin about getting a gt2 and putting some sort of different motor in it.... well finding someone to put another motor in it. haha thanks for the feed back. for future reference what kind of engine did u get for you're gt2?

and i am a little worried about the 2.5's power if i put aluminum on it. how much would some aluminum effect its speed?

we all here can walk you through a motor swap, sounds like you need to just get a truck and stert there, the motor swap is four screws and a clutch change that is the hardest part,if you are good at folowing directions and are new to the hobby building a kit may be good for you,you will just need to take your time and do the build but when you are done you would know the truck inside out,I still say go with the jato and be happy as you break things replace and as you feel you need more power than do a motor swap, you realy dont need major power in a two wheel drive truck and being you are new to all this that is one hell of a truck to start with!!!!!!!!!!

haha i might have to hit that dude up then yeah i have a buggy. i know how to drive alright. i mean i have never driven a 2wd and I'm sure its a different ball game but i have SOME experience i just havent done anything with parts yet

Hey rcripper.... just another word of caution. Aluminum looks really nice, but if you are going to bash... I would strongly caution you to limit your aluminum additions. Aluminum is heavy, expensive, and when it bends your done. Loading your rig down with aluminum is a waste of money unless it is destined to become a shelf queen, and even then it is a waste. If your upgrading to aluminum because you want it to be strong then I recomend buying RPM parts instead. They are tough, light, plastic and usually have a lifetime guarantee. You will hardly ever find a lifetime gurantee on aluminum. Just my opinion and advice to you.

wow i actually just talked to my friend who doesn't have an rc but he works at a general hobby store and he says he could get me a new 3.3 for 250 or so possibly and they go for 400 just to walk in and buy one... he is going to check back in with me on how much he can get it for but he said he thinks he can do 250. that would be so sick. but yeah if anyone wants to post pictures or videos or anything about how to change the gearing and stuff like that it would be sooo great.

thanks man that is actually exactly what i wanted i want a really durable truck where i dont have to worry to much about breakin an arm just driving around so rpm plastic is good? yeah man i dont care what it looks like as long as it it works and works well.

The wheels are RPM Clawz 6-Spoke and the tires are Pro-Line Dirt Works 2.2 Truck tires. They need to be guled to the rims, they are new and never used. as is the RPM arms and bumper. The truck has been broke in and is good to go. I used Blue Thunder 20% nitro.

RPM plastic is the best.

By the way... you can get a 3.3 for much better than 250. Here is a link

The roto start system would cost you about 42 bucks more

how do those wheels run are bigger wheels/tires better?

if i can't get a good deal on the 3.3 at the hobby shop then i think i will be pretty interested in your 2.5 are you giving any other tools/extras?

now keep in mind my friend doesn't do anything with rc but he does work at the shop so he is around em a little he said they buy em for 180 and they go for 400 and i mean thats in bulk but still.

whatever truck i get i would totally love to get a walkthrough on how to tune the gearing whoever was offering that. like i said if i can't get a good deal on that 3.3 then i will probably get ofna1's 2.5 just because most people seem to belive its enough and it seems like its in good shape and this forum has proven to be pretty reliable

I am saying if you can get 3.3 for that, then you are getting a super deal. It is good to have friends like that.

and this forum has proven to be pretty reliable

Yeah... but we lie a lot.

Getting into RC is kind of like people that are married telling other people how great it is... then you get married. Then they tell you, when it's your child, it will be different, you won't hate them.

"They" got me once... I'm won't be made a fool of twice! :boxing:
