I have a Duratrax Raze and the Jato caught my eye.. it makes me think about getting one... I am new to this hobby and need some helpful opinions whatever is a good idea to get also please list some good places to buy upgrades. thanks for the help.

Keep in mind that is a two wheel drive truck and hard to drive, but it will make ya a better driver in the long run.....also look at the gt2 its a better truck and lots of hop ups are out for it...

where is a good site to buy the gt2 and where can i buy ups for it? is it just as fast as the jato because i hear good things about jato...

Are you looking to race or bash? The jato is a fun basher and is pretty durable with RPM arms and bumper. I like that it has a two speed. It allows you to gear it a bit slower to have good snap off the line, but still fast when it kicks into second.

try amain hobbys I always have good luck and they ship super fast!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.amainhobbies.com/ I think the jato is faster but the gt is five times the truck,it is killer for a basher and better for a racer, lots of hop ups out for it!!!!!!!!!!! good luck!!

i appreciate all the help but I'm still kind of torn between the 2 i have never messed with the gearing on an rc and dont really know about that. i dont race at the moment i just drive around and like to take my car out to our bmx track and do some jumps and am considering racing one day. my raze is supposed to go 45.. i would like something faster than that if i put money into another car. if i get the gt are there just like some parts i could add on and just like boost performance or do i have to tinker with the gearing?

You will always have to tinker with gearing. The advantage with the jato is that it's two speed which allows you to gear it pretty fast but still have first gear to get off the line quickly. I believe it's the only 2wd 1/10 stadium that has a two speed... well, except for the shumacher trucks. They have 3 speeds I believe. Freaking rockets!

thats the thing... how do u tinker with the gearing haha like i dont even know where to start... other than that i dont mind experimenting..

I have a Jato 2.5 that I run a few times ( around 5 or 6 tanks) before I got my buggys, it has new RPM arms, bumper, and motor protector it also has 4 new RPM claws rims and 4 new Pro Line dirt works tires. It is black in color. I would sell it for $285 plus $18 shipping.

haha thanks man i have already seen that on ebay. i just got my paypal this past week and I'm waiting for some cash to go through to it. i only put 100 on it so i could start selling stuff then I'm going to buy once i get some more money built up on paypal so it will be a while. sorry ofna, i want a 3.3... I'm power hungry.. lol if you wanted to you could sell me everything but the motor for a cheaper price and i could go buy a 3.3 motor.. the only problem is i know nothing about installing a motor. i looked at some gt2 on youtube last night and kinda liked em so we'll see. if i get a good deal on a used 3.3 or a gt2 just depends.. if you have anymore ideas feel free to keep posting. i appreciate all the help.

Just a word of caution about speed and two wheel drive trucks... Speed is cool, but keep in mind that the faster it goes the harder it is to control. My point is look for more than top speed when choosing a truck, especially the 2wd variety. The 3.3 Jato is almost rediculous fast, but it is also so hard to control it ain't funny. Just something to keep in mind.

That's a very good point godale03. My jato with a 2 tooth smaller CB than stock and an old tired 2.5 in it is plenty fast. Any faster and it would pretty much be a drag race only truck. Even as it is, feathering the throttle is a must or it just spins out.

so do you guys thing the gt2 would be a good buy? i am liking it alot so far.. it seems like a nice truck and i saw a guy on ebay that was selling one with an upgraded engine that way if i need more power i can spring for another motor..

You can spring for another engine with either truck...

Like I said though, I went with the jato because of the two speed. My first truck 7 years ago was a Losi xxx-nt. I hated that if I want to gear for quick take off that I lost so much top speed and if I geared for top speed, my take off suffered. The jato does what I wanted and I really enjoy it. The xxx-nt got me into the hobby (competition with the GT), but I really prefer the jato.

what do i need to do to adjust the gears? i dont know how.. sorry I'm a newb haha

so now i have decided i want something with a little more power than a gt2 but i have also decided that the jato 3.3 might be a little much so I'm debating between the rustler and the jato 2.5 whats the difference in the two and how much power lose is that for the jato? i dont know much about the rustler

I can let you have my 2.5 Jato for $255 plus $18 shipping. I can post pictures in the morning if you would like.

The GT2 is a purpose built truck. It was built to race. If you are going to bash, I would go with the Jato. With the Jato you get a good basher and a racer if you chose to do so. I think the GT2 is just to specialized to be a durable basher. Just my 2 cents.

post pictures, I'm actually still considering the 3.3. i figure that if i put alot of aluminum on it the bigger engine might not be a bad idea to have put up some pictures and a video if you can some how that would be great. it is a possibility
