I got the front suspension together. Need to widen the toe but it looks pretty good.
Did the first cut on the front bumper.

Is it me or is there a second Murthy’s law.

If you order three things at the same time. No mater who you order form or how far they have to travel.

What ever you need the most arrives last and what ever you don’t even really need show up over night.

I'm sure I've seen that written somewhere lol

I ordered a Tamiya Bruiser driver figure. They are kinda hard to find and perfectly fit the VS410. So I ordered one from Hong Kong 14 bucks free shipping. About the only one I could find. I might put it in this class 2 truck, but it was meant to be here in December. Got it yesterday. Body mounts meant to be here today. Have not moved out of the second stop since Wednesday.

Got this out on the rocks in the back yard. Still waiting on the body stuff. But I wanted to see how the portals are. First off it’s heavy. And that is good because the body is going to be heavy. And I’m going to add weight to the front axle. But it will have a winch.

As for the test with no body in the dark on wet grass. It is super, super smooth. And just about does it all. Will make a great class 2 scale rig. And can probably get 43 SORRCA scale points.

Awesome! Glad to hear its going well! Keep up the good work :)

The body mounts are “out for delivery.” My favorite three words after “have some bacon.”

Meanwhile I tossed together a front bumper. Can’t make the mounts till I get the body positioned.

I had to change the servo set up. I originally had the servo with the steering horn facing down and the winch with the pulley facing down. With portals this was not good for a low center of gravity.
So I changed the pitman arm bracket and changed to a lay down servo. This allows the frame to go all the way down to the axle as the shocks bottom out.

But I need a winch so that is mounted to the frame. My only concern is the interior.

Made a fair lead in the bumper. And ran with winch line around the open gears.

The body is mounted
The wheel wells are trimmed for max clearance
The chassis seems to work well with out the body.

Next I have to make an interior.
Make bumpers
Fit the electronics.
Paint and add scale stuff.
Need a roll cage
Plus driving it a lot to get used to the hard body.

A little progress. I made the front bumper. Now some file and fill and it will be done.

Let the bashing begin. Now that it is all pretty. I need to make a rear bumper and move on to the paint.
The winch line runs through a nice big fairlead and goes to a bungee cord clips to the rear shock area. That way if I push the winch the wrong way it won’t snap the cord.

Plus it’s super fast to deploy with a foot already out.

Well that’s unfortunate

Pushed the wrong button and the winch took off . Glad I don’t use steel winch line. This winch is very powerful

Got a coat of paint on the body. Probably going to let it sit and then wet sand it out before a coat of satin clear.

Thanks
I was going to go with a class 1 but need a different frame.
Ned’s to be metal and have bolt on shock hoops.
I think I’m going to build a class one from the extra cab. It has opening doors and hood.

I'd want to go C1 too but my goodness, so many hobbies and so little time.

This is going to be a blast to drive through the woods. Can’t wait to start practicing old and new lines but I’m going to wait till it’s all finished before I scratch it .
