Would a 3S battery work in this fuel pump?

It says 7.2-12V, so I suppose my 3S battery would be perfect?
Also, do these pumps use lots of energy? Is 2500mAh enough for pumping a gallon in and out?
are these things simply brushed or do I need an ESC?

Don't need an esc. You'd need to know how much current the pump draws. Most small pumps draw less than 10 amps.
