Looks like you're off to a good start! My main tip for a first build would be to focus on practicing with the tools and techniques, every build brings more practice for me and I'm still revisiting my early builds and making improvements.

I haven't done one yet just from plans - the most involved I got was building a balsa kit that included everything already cut, and I was only able to do that confidently after a few simpler kits. Doing your first RC plane in balsa from plans is an ambitious project, not to say it can't be done, but you may find it daunting as an intro to the world of RC flight, just my first impression based on my experience.

Building from plans is not that difficult, at least i didn't find it to be. My first kit to build was a super sportster a low wing plane very quick. Now you don't want to build one of those for your first plane , until you have some experience flying.

Get yourself a high wing kit, they are better for beginners, they are much more stable and basically fly themselves, with little input. Plus they give you time to think. Also when first building a beginner plane by kit, it will be easier to learn to build, and will give you the confidence to build a more in depth kit later.
