No doubt a cool custom painted body really stands out. I don't have the patience for it. Plus they only last a year or two. I've spent time and money on a few on a couple occasions, just not my thing. I also don't clean my rc's. I'll knock and brush off build up, even air clean once in a while, but that's about it. My rigs are in a detached garage year round, so that helps. Basically if they run good, good enough. LOL.

This is an excellent point! Some ppl just want to run their cars. Looks don't matter as much as fun!
Other ppl just hammer their cars and that custom body is going to get beat up.
I bet there aren't a ton of custom paint jobs bashing at the skate parks!

Yeah, I totally respect it, the custom bodies and clean after every outing. Polished parts and such. Just not my style, I find that when I try to keep them nice, I end up frustrated from spending more time cleaning than running. I know some enjoy the process.. To each their own as always. 🍻

I used to spend more time cleaning my Harley than I did riding it. I don't miss that!
I hit my r/c with air when I'm thru running.
That gets all the big chunks out.

I'm also restoring a couple.
These cars and parts will get cleaned, polished etc... ONCE.
MAYBE I'll get into keeping these cleaner. They will be indoor carpet racers.
I think just because they are indoors, its WAY easier to keep them clean.

My OCD would tweak completely if I was to worry about the scratches, dents, punctures from dogs teeth... in my basher bodies!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Another issue that I could see potentially...
What if a "stock class" Slash race were to have 3 red, 3 blue, 3 green trucks running the same race???
It might get ugly! 🤣🤣🤣

I was at the Teaxxas store this morning but didn't look at the 2wd models. I was hoping they had a Mini Maxx to fondle, but they said probably not until the Monday before Thanksgiving. The Jato 4x4 looked pretty good, but only the 2S models are available right now.

I like the JATO buggies but for the money, nah. There are better values to be had for sure.

Many probably already know, but HH is blowing out a bunch of stuff at 50% off.
Such as this 1/8 Spektrum sensored combo at $115. Pretty nice combo for the money.

Are RC bodies clear because you’re supposed to paint them on the inside?
10-4. Clean them up w warm water & dish soap. Dry & paint! They come with a protective outer film, you remove after you paint to preserve the clear outside. They also come with window masks, same shape, apply inside b4 painting. Remove after all dry for clear windows or spray over all of it with black for tinted windows.

And before I look into getting an air brush , I’m gonna try spray paint cans (Tamiya brand paint?). But I did just watch the Iwata Eclipse long term review and the guy praised it up and down. So I’m gonna have to get it sooner rather than later.
Yep. Tamiya PS paints are really good! PS only on Lexan. Not TS. That's for model cars or ships.

You would benefit a LOT, having a look around outside this particular thread. 😉

There is an absolute WEALTH of knowledge from every member.. Checking out the vast array of build threads would be a great start for any newcomer imho.. There a LOT to learn, and appreciate just skimming through build threads in particular. A lot of us guys are very detail oriented, and descriptive with how/why we do the things we do.. And who doesn’t like a tremendous amount of pictures to accompany all the different processes? 🤩

There are a TON of paint posts, and threads as well, from rattle cans to airbrushing, and everything in between.. 🤙

Tamiya, traxxas, spaz stix, dyratrax all good. Make sure it's for polycarbonate. With tamiya it's the ps line.

I actually ordered traxxas 13.5oz cuz of the size.

Niiiiiice. Thanks for the tips. Remember that time I thought I was gonna stick with an $800 budget? Haha , what a laugh.

It looked good while getting the wife's initial approval.

Seriously. We now have four RC’s residing here. And everyone wants upgrades after watching YT vids. The kids all have Proline bodies on their Xmas lists so I need to learn how to prep and paint. I’ll be reading up on some threads like Littlemotor said about the subject.

There’s a few Tekno builds under my name as well, -to knock out two birds with one stone.. I include some airbrush stuff also.. But the thread @RustyUs linked ya to was a pretty good one too imo. 🤘
