If you're wanting larger scale, I would take a good look at the Team Corally Kagama... It is really well constructed with oversized parts just about everywhere. The RTR version comes with a pretty good ESC/Motor and parts are readily available on-line. This company has $60 off of $400 right now, so you could get the roller for $360, or the RTR for $560.

Here's a pretty good video comparison.
I forgot all about Team Corally. That's another good one.

I have been wanting one of those too!

Typical Traxxas. They dont tell you half the crap you want to know about specs. 🤬

The original E-REVO in 2008 is the earliest example I can think of as the first 6S RTR. It came with a rebranded Castle MMM ESC and their 2200KV motor.
So now I wonder if the aluminum chassis on the Sledge is crappy grade aluminum. I feel like they’d boast about it if it was decent. Just an observation. Maybe it’s strong enough. No idea.

I don’t have a dog in this fight, and this isn’t meant in any way to sway you from the brand. We have traxxas, associated, Hpi, arrma, tekno rigs. We can break them all (tekno is just in service and durability to be determined). But in regards to the chassis on the sledge, Traxxas does seem to advertise when convenient. This is just from the parts page

I still have Traxxas rigs I want to get though 😁

Edit: get what you like and enjoy the memories with your boy, bashing or wrenching it’s all worth it 😁

Interesting how some parts are labeled as 7075 or 6061-T6 and some just say ā€œaluminumā€.

And I will take your advice and enjoy the trucks we get and spending time with my young fella.

He still wants the Maxx. I’m still liking the Rustler Ult , Sledge (despite the aluminum situation, I just like it) and the Kraton.

And as long as someone’s grades are up to snuff , I’ll be ordering the vehicles in another week and a half.

My oldest son runs a Sledge and it has held up well for him, even when his sister in law was at the controls. :hehe:

No no. 6061 is awesome aluminum. Very good. 7075 is not as common in most manufacturers fields. 6061 is the go to for most all aluminum anywhere you see. If you see an aluminum sheet-metal bent box with holes in it & switches, it's most probably 3000 series. Aluminum RC parts, 6061.

7075 would be considered an upgrade in RC but $$ & not always necessary. It's just out there in the aftermarket world.
The stock Tekno *uggy chassis’ are 7075. šŸ˜‰

Who knew a week ago when my son mentioned that he wanted an RC for his bday that pretty soon I’d be sucked into this fantastic hobby , learning about slipper clutches , difs and different grades of aluminum 😃
It's a fun hobby to be involved in. And you're doing your research first, which will get you off on the right foot.

We could have predicted, many of us have been down the same road, LOL
As to the aluminum chassis, I personally don't see any of them as crappy. Sure some are better than others, but for average use they all work as intended. Even when I did manage to bend one on my TT back when, I stripped it down and straightened it, reassembled and still used for a while..eventually I did bend it again. Which is when I made my own. I don't think there ever was an aftermarket chassis for that model.

@Littlemotor is right, the Tekno is 7075 as standard. Stronger for sure, but since it's intended for racing they mill out quite a bit of strength for weight reduction. Enough so that the aftermarket makes chassis for those as well. Most all the hardcore jumping enthusiasts end up on an upgraded chassis regardless of brand.

Bottom line is, anyone who goes for huge air either bends the stock aluminum or breaks the stock plastic chassis. There are upgrades for both in most cases, but I'd say wait until it happens before troubling yourself with it. May never happen. Money always goes down the drain, memories last forever! Enjoy the bonding time with your son!!šŸ˜šŸ‘šŸ»

You're going to break any of them eventually, but there's always aftermarket parts to make it stronger, so I wouldn't worry about what rig you're buying too much as long as it has good aftermarket support.

Then I found this is :View attachment 202951

Indeed. Just wanna keep him on the straight and narrow. So far , he’s doing great.
Be careful with AI responses, as AI is often wrong about things. For example, I have no idea where its getting the info about the chassis being 6061-T6. I can't find a single source online that backs up what this is AI is saying.
