Not “wrenching”, but absolutely RC related… I had a few minutes to try out the new blow torch this evening… about 15-20% of the outer edge of the 1/8 off-road track in my back yard… Likely gonna take me about a week and a half of burning before it’s time to grab the tractor, and start grading.. I already know where all the lanes, and jumps are going.. I’m super stoked..

Starting from the right hand side of the driver’s stand (deck), and looking down. Then moving counter clockwise around the footprint obviously.. 10’ wide lanes, and there will be two separate lanes around the outside (left of in the photo) of those few large(ish) trees. I’ll be snatching all of the foliage out from between/around them as well. It’ll be no problem to see around/between them. Also, (2) separate lanes across the front of the driver’s stand, between it, and the row of trees. Plenty of stuff in the center area as well. The overall footprint of the track is roughly 150ishx80’ or so.. Gonna be killer!

This is prior to grading, and the camera makes the photos a little misleading, but there are definitely some elevation changes, as well as some killer jumps OVER “imperfections” I can’t do much about..

started deciding on what motor to put in the cen f450. burnt up the factory motor, i dont have the monies for the axe system i kinda wanna put in it so I'm thinking about putting another factory motor in it to kill while i wait,....
gotta take transmission off to get to motor mounts alledgedly

Holmes Hobbies has a lot of good motors, and some of them are cheap. THIS 55T motor will not only produce a ton of torque but its only $15 to boot!

I've been eyeballing a puller pro since they were on sale but if you say that El cheapo has the torque I'm looking for I'll give her a try for sure!

Its a 55T motor so its going to have a lot of torque. Its also not going to have much on the top speed side of things.

How do you know this has torque? Trying to learn not being a smartass

I've never broke in a motor and never used a brushed I always swap it out for Brushless immediately

You know how in brushless motors, the lower the KV, the more torque but less RPMs? Well, in brushed motors the Turn rating is basically the same type of thing, only the numbers work in reverse order. So higher T equals more torque and less RPM. 55T is a really high Turn rating. I've not seen too many brushed motors higher than 55T. It's probably the equivalent of an 800Kv motor, or maybe 1000KV. There's no exact conversion, but it would be really low KV if it was a brushless motor. A lot of comp crawlers will have real high Turn motors in them if they're running brushed. It's been so long since I've used a 55T motor, I really don't remember the top speed on them in my old Bully crawler. It wasn't very fast though.

They aren't hard to rebuild. Being a slow crawler motor, you probably won't ever need to anyway.

With the right gearing it should pull quite a bit.

If you've never taken a motor apart, its pretty cool to see how they work.
Its been a while since I've split open a new motor but the last one I took apart was pretty simple.
If you use this rig a lot, maybe a rebuildable makes sense.

Does the bells and whistles motor give you the adjustable endbell for timing vs non adjust on the cheaper?
THAT might be worth a couple extra bucks too.
If you can adjust the timing, you can tweak your motor for more power at better effieniency, generally speaking.
Hobbywing sells non-adjustable race motors that they tweak for you (for more money) for instance.
Its down to how much tinkering and fixing on your cars do you enjoy vs how much you want to just throw down on a track (bash, etc...) and run.
I enjoy tinkering and trying to tweak my kits. I enjoy learning about how they work.
If you get into motor tuning, there are even machines to help you get the most out of them. Its def another R/C rabbit hole!

The better motor is likely going to perform a bit better. I can't say anything definitve here because I dont own both of those motors, so I have no point of comparison.

Should be pretty close to stock BLX performance. Hoping I don’t need to run to run motor fans. But yeah, I’m stoked

decided I’m gonna wait to install the combo. Wanna see how the brushed system does with 4x4 at the track first. Just for the hell of it

Vorteks has been Hobbywingified. 13t pinion ended up being too small for the 50t spur, it wasn’t even close to reaching. Ended up reaming put a bit of adjustment on the motor mount and was able to get a 15t on. She might be a little fast we’ll see
