Yesterday, I installed new shocks on my SCX24. Instantly remembered why I hate small scale stuff after removing the first screw. This would have been a for sale ad if my kids didn’t like the truck so much lol.

Yea I have some rough times working on my Mini B but I got used to it and actually work on it well, and fast. Now smaller or like Mini Z small, thats above my limit. Or bigger stuff like anything bigger than 1/7 imo, that's also above my limit, although for the big parts, it won't fit on my small workbench!

There comes a time when the scale is small enough it becomes landfill matter or a paper weight.

I've looked at the small-scale stuff in the hobby shop, and every time I pick one up, my first thought is 'nope' simply due to the notion of having to work on one. I'd like this combo, just because, but $540 for a decoration is too much for me.

Same concerns about having to work on micro parts and hardware here. The idea of micro rc is fun for me though.
For me, I think a 1/10 scale, multi-floor indoor crawler course and a buggy carpet track with a jump thats high enough to clear the table but low enough to miss the chandelier.

I sat down in the cold garage and took out the rear diff in my XO-1 and once i cleaned it mostly i was greeted with this.

In my opinion do NOT buy cobra racing diffs the original gears that came in these did this first outing.

And once i swapped in real Traxxas internals from my Hoss on the 2nd run it ended with them like what you saw in the first few pictures of this post.

I repeat do NOT buy cobra racing diffs for any of the cars these work with i'm starting to think these would be about the same or worse than the stock diffs that come in Traxxas 4x4 trucks. I did figure out one thing i used the washer on the ring gear side of the diff instead of the cup side like you're supposed to install them like.

Someone posted about cobra racing upgrades the other day. Glad we got some real world proof that confirms most of our worries. Rebranded chinesium with a fancy logo!

Yes unfortunately, But at least i learned a lot of things about how to build differentials for this platform of cars and trucks. My car will most likely go back to using E-Revo\E-Maxx spec diffs like what it had from the factory next month once i get paid again.

Not sure if you want to try. On my trx mini ring and pinion I would heat them cherry red and then dip them.

Here's an update i checked the front and the same thing happened like the rear.

like what @jojobeans said most likely Cobra Racing is cheap Chinesium trash with a fancy logo.

But my car will be back up and running next month mostly with new E-Revo diffs.

Injora brass skid and brass diff covers on the AX24. Trying to get her a little more anchored on the rough stuff. At 66 I find these little guys a challenge to work on, but a set of tweezers (blunt and fine tip) are a huge help!

Soldered up motors. Yay they all running now.

And I just noticed on the 2wd the esc case cracked open near the sensor port. But still works fine and I don't wanna take it all apart again so ima send it till it quits

Here's what i did today.

Removed both the ESC and Motor out of my Outcast 8s EXB V1 Roller with the intent to use it in my X-Maxx. Had to break out the Dremel to get out a stripped motor plate screw luckily i didn't harm the motor but i trashed the plate.

Also took the Firma 160 V2 out of my Outcast to use in my X-Maxx called Ultimate Maxxine. While i had the Dremel out i trimmed off the mounting tabs that would be used in the 8s Arrma's. So it would work in the X-Maxx.

Here the ESC mocked up in the X-Maxx.

Get the brass wheel inserts. Big improvement.

Losi XXX-SCT transmission tear down and clean. Got the diff rebuilt with new grease. Everything looked pretty good. Also replaced the bearings with FastEddy's
