I'm out of filament noooooooooo!
I thought a spool would last me longer
Ordering 4 on Friday but then gotta wait on the mail lame city.
Wish someplace locally sold it
It’s amazing how fast it can go, and that’s when the prints come out correct. When ya F up, it goes even faster!

@majin
So what do you think about the Bambu A1? I think I'm going Friday to get one from my Microcenter about 45 minutes away after work. They got down to 8 in stock, checked today, restock, now 25+.
I think you should get one, easy to set up, easy to use. Just get the ams lite with it. If you don’t you will regret it, I sure did.

Tomorrow is Friday. I'm really leaning to going after work & get it. They, Microcenter, only has the A1 w/o the AMS Lite.

so far I've printed a few containers at the wrong size, adn a few grids the wrong size lol, I'm still gonna use them tho, i drove 3 hours to get some filament so i could make some more boxes for screws and some other random containers... i really like containers lol my desk is already MUCH cleaner

Lucikly I bought enough of a few types to hold me for a bit with the new printer. But yes, I wish I could get it locally in a pinch also.
this is the dilemma of 3d printing , usally my mark to order more is when I hit 1/2 of the spool I'm using. You will also learn what filaments work better in certain situations over others. pla is a great mock and test print material cause it's cheap and easy. but there are materials that hold up better to heat , impacts, and have more flexibility than pla does.
Once I run out of the PLA I have, I highly doubt I'll order anymore. PETG costs roughly the same for me, is more durable, UV resistant, stronger, and my printer prints it just as fast as PLA. I have a roll of ABS inbound for harder use items, really excited to try it out next week.

You have an air purifier? ABS puts out toxic fumes, and stinks pretty bad.

I do, and my printer has filtration also.
Oh cool. Fire away! ABS is some good stuff. I'm curious how it prints for you. I have printed it, but not having an enclosure, it didn't do well.

Yeah, I have some specific things I want in ABS. My printer is enclosed and has internal and external filtration, and I'll have an air purifier running too. So we'll see how it goes. I'll keep you guys posted.

I've been on the fence about trying abs but I agree about petg it's about all I use, I do keep a couple cheap rolls of pla just for prototyping though. I buy any colors they have on deep discount as I don't car about color when prototyping things then print my final items in petg

Having a bunch of pla parts fail over the years I don't plan to use it for anything but tests and prototypes. Petg is just a couple bucks more and has a lot better properties. I've been very impressed with petg so far. Picked up some tpu to experiment with but haven't printed anything yet.

I have printed abs on the a1 and it did not stink. Since the printer is not enclosed, the abs tends to warp if the object is anything bigger than 4 or 5 inches in diameter on the plate. Small RC parts like an scx24 chassis and all the other stuff has done just fine.

Never thought 3D printing would trigger my OCD on car wiring. I wanted to try a longitudinal battery mount on my sc6.2. saw some photos of others, sketched a design, made some revisions. Now I need to work on a top plate. Plan to add holes on the mounting arms. Beef up the arms too so I can adjust a bit front and back.

i dont think i will take this any further. i dont think the two points are strong enough to secure the battery box and a top deck in a crash or even a big jump. And, i don't want to punch through any of the places the chassis mounts to the rails.

Maybe check ebay and select the closest one?

Containers and storage are a big part of why I got a printer.

I printed my first trash part today
20250302_105235.webp

I was sitting at the PC and heard a slapping sound. So I got check and lo and behold I'm printing trash.
I'm not 100% sure what happened
But a few factors were at play

It was very cold in the room with printer?
Previous print was full plate and I didn't wipe it down with ISO first ( possibly had a piece left b hind to cause hiccup)
The table it's on (literally a board on buckets) is HELLA wobbly. This hasn't affected any prints so far but I don't really see how it's in ANY way a good idea to be on a shifty base.....
Ben on a gridfinity kick
I've gotten my desk area so gd clean and organized. It's been worth it just for that alone

Most of the items in the messy pic are still on the table. Just has a spot for it now

Maybe you can 3d print a whole workbench one square at a time. :)
