I have two girls at home. They're not anywhere near dating age but when the time comes it makes me wonder what I would do at that moment. I'd probably not use something that was potentially lethal but still make him remember to never break the rules again.

Like you, I have a daughter and she is, hopefully, years away from dating. I plan on using a more proactive approach to dissuade any potential suitors from stowing away in the closet.

Upon the initial introduction of the new beau, I plan to be sitting in my garage or driveway on my Harley, pair of ratty overalls on, Budweiser in one hand, idling chainsaw in the other. I'll be courteous and polite, but leave the mental image of potential dismemberment should said beau decide to try anything with my little girl!

I have to believe this father meant no actual harm to this boy and it is unfortunate, but when I read about it a couple days ago, I could put myself in his place, but I would never do something to permanently injure someone (unless they are actually attacking someone in my family, then all bets are off!)

The pounding with the pool cue would have been enough to make the kid run and never come back. Now the father is in deep trouble, and I'm sure it's something the daughter will NEVER forgive him for.
How ironic that the kid is now paralyzed from the waist down.

You guys are twisted.... I guess it depends on the attitude of the kid, but I would never physically harm someone for hiding in a closet.. Hell, the daughter most likely put him up to it.. I remember climbing through my wifes window one night while we were dating, against my better judgement of course.
Shooting him??? come on now.. If someone pulled a gun on me, they better damn well shoot me dead...

I'll let you all know when my daughter goes on her first date...at age 38! Actually when little gents start coming by, I'll offer em a beer, if they take me up on the offer, they better freakin duck cause it's coming for their head, hard and fast. A couple guns laying out in plain site and me practicing Muay Thai when the potential suitor comes by might deter them enough, if not, a watch out for a grenade I have around here somewhere, it got lost but it's live and dangerous may keep them alert too!

I hav a 13yr old daughter 2 young 2 date but wont b that many years still she starts & I have told her that 1st I meet the boy 2nd I show him the targets I've shot with my 9mm and 75yrds away (ofcourse all bulls eye's even if I put holes in them with a pencil) 2nd I ask him if he's a fast runner and if he say's yes I'll show him the ballistics of the average 9mm bullet and then ask if he's faster than it. And if his responce is no to running fast then I'll tell him then I guess a 22cal will do?

If I found a boy in her closet the better man in me should sit the 2 of them down and find out what happend. The protective dad in me would prob get unpredictably violent in other words something would happend but I'm not sure what, guess it all depends on if the boy had any clothes on.

My wife and I have told our son the samething if keep it in ur pants cus if u get caught by her father aint no body protecting ur ass.

and yes...my daughters are 14 and 10...and I am VERY protective....

Jet you have some serious trust issues buddy. I like that. I'm so overprotective of my little girls, one time in a sporting good store I ran over and gave a guy an elbow to the chest because he was about to run into my 2.5 year old. He didn't see where he was walking and I just instinctively rushed over. I remember saying "Watch out!" and then heard a thud, and then realized my elbow was in this dude's chest.

This is a tough one, as a father I can get very protective but I have also been the one hiding in the closet. I have no problem with the father beating the poop out of the boy...I figured thats what would happen to me if I ever got caught, but shooting him was way over the line.

I might feel differently about it if I had a girl???

+10 ...that is exactly how I feel as well....I work in a gun store and shoot regularly to make damn sure I do not miss when he is trying zigzag away from me!

I believ that was Bill Engvall (sp?) from the Red Neck comedy tour. An old friend of mine (former marine NCO) said he planned to meet the boyfriend while polishing his sword. I have a daughter on the way, but I think I would be a bit more reserved. He would be able to crawl out the door.

Let me tell you TALK TALK TALK and TALK somemore.My oldest is hard to teach especially at her age but She understands my rules. She may not like them but who cares. All we can do is hope that all our hard work pays off.

If I found that boy in the closet. I honestly could'nt tell you if he would live. See my oldest girl was hurt by someone she loved and trusted. Hes Dead now. Of natural causes but let me tell you.................I would'nt give anyone else that GET OUT OF HELL CARD but him. so yeah I'm VERY Protective of my three girls...........But Dont be Affraid to Tell them how much they mean to you. EVER and talk to them. Ok I'm out. Sorry bout that but its Real Life I never thought my girls would ever be hurt like that.
