Yea the price point of a 8th e truggy is probably as far as I will go in the RC hobby. Anything bigger is probably not for me due to price and size and storage.
Idk man. You’d be surprised how much you can afford with a full time job out of high school while living with your parents 😆 from what I hear “sponsorships” (I call them loyalty discounts) are pretty easy to get too if you race consistently

I see a 1/8 E-Truggy in your future after you fall in love with that typhon
This 👆👆👆is so accurate, because Beer_Goggles_RC's radio control handbook chapter 2 "Natural Progression" is a real thing and says so.

10 years and he’ll be running nitro buggy and truggy at PNB

Give it a few years, or even decades. I was in same boat; had same thoughts. Growing up, moving away, coming back... things change. People change. I'm here to tell you, as I was outside last night kicking up dust clouds with EB48, I was thinking what kind of debris I could throw into the air with a 1/5 scale SCT. I never had serious thoughts about owning a 1/5 scale RC until last night. If the right kind of neighbor ever decides to build on the land beside me... look out.

I'm all talk, 'cause after thinking things over, a lawn tractor with frontend loader attachment

would most likely be needed to play with as well. $$$. A person can always dream. Right?

how about a Mini Z? i took a chance about a year ago and got one, didn't know if id like it. i set it up for drifting. turns out i like it, drive it like twice a week. can't say it's cheap, but it is a hell of a lot of fun.

I've looked at those a number of times. Look like a lot of fun.

Dude get a boat.

Id suggest one of those WLToys Mini Z knock-offs, then when your driving improves get a proper Mini-Z.

Just avoid the "my first Mini Z", they don't have proportional steering.
