I’m new to RC and have only been in the hobby for a year. When buying new electric crawlers or bashers, I prefer a sealed box, but it’s not always available. Some users claim to identify unusual sounds from motors, but I’m a beginner and can’t detect them easily. I suspect the shopkeeper is selling old stock, as evidenced by wobbling tires and minor scratches. Is there a common number between the vehicle and the carton to ensure authenticity? I’m concerned that the box may have been opened and the cartons switched.

Tire wear is a pretty good sign of use. How do they look?
Scratches on the wing or shock towers would make me think its been run and flipped over.

I think the chassis scratches would be a concern that $30-50 off would help me forget about.

I am not paying new price for used gear. Used once or used a year, its no longer new.
