just wondering i just bought rechargable batteries but now i am reading in the manual that you have to use alkaline batts is there a difference if i have nimh's??

no problem we all use ni-mh or ni-cd receiver packs in a 5 cell configuration.
the problem is when you use just 4 cells the voltage drops of fairly quickly since most rechargeable AA size batts only put out 1.2 - 1.25 volts where as alkalines put out a full 1.5 volts

are you talking about battery pack or individual rechargables AA batteries

Both. A 4 cell rechargeable setup only puts out 4.8 volts whereas a 4 cell alkaline setup puts out 6.

Receiver battery packs made for RC's are typically 5 cell 2/3A type NiMH rechargeable batteries. They are shorter and fatter than AA's. But, since 5 are used, you still get 6 volts.

I've made 5 cell AA NiMH packs in the past. But it's typically a pain to find a place to mount them.

The pictures don't really show a good representation of the comparison... The 2/3A pic is blown up a bit.
