Started doing some port matching. I noticed the exhaust header inlet is about half the size of the exhaust port. So I got the Dremel out and started taking some metal out until the stone bits got gummed up with aluminium.

I'm sure it won't make much, if any difference to performance but no loss.

I wanted to accomplish something on this build before I go back to work tomorrow so grabbed some chassis parts and started assembling. This is as far as I got before needed more parts or needing to clean more parts. Some of the screws I used are corroded but I'll replace them when I get stock.

That lower plastic chassis plate is not deformed. The photo made it look that way for some reason.
It's about time you started building - slow poke 😝

I love a good resto. And yours are always perfect. Kinda jealous.

Thanks @WickedFog . Coming from you with your 2 current builds that are perfect, that means a lot.

I like a resto too. It's a waste of money but I enjoy it. There's something about restoring history or memories or nostalgia or something.

Yeah, that's a big part of it. They may be big pieces of crap compared to today's standards, but it's no different than folks restoring old toys. The nostalgia of it just tugs at my heart because it brings back so many great memories.

We have this trader's mall here, where various venders setup shop selling used and vintage items. Like a bunch of yard sale type booths. One vendor in there who rents a large section of the shop has nothing but vintage toys. I'd love to see his actual collection at home because he has some of the most amazing restored toys for sale, and some stuff from way back in the 1800's. I can't go there without spending at least an hour looking through all the displays, which are all kinda tied together in each cabinet.

Before I got back into this hobby and life got busy, I would restore old tools, knives, meat cleavers, axes, old Irons, lanterns, pot belly stove, garden tools etc. I still have a few unfinished projects. I was a real amateur but I don't care. I enjoy it.

My dad did that too. He restored one of these back to brand new condition from a greasy, rusty pile of parts. It would pull out 1' diameter tree stumps with ease.

Fancy name for an indoor flea market. 🤣
Yeah. I can't remember what it's called, but it's a big one between here and Indy. We have one down the road named Trader Joes that's even bigger, and full of junk 😉

Corroded so bad the hex heads look like a phillips! 🤪

One thing I do not miss about the good ol days of RC.

I did a few mini bikes in my time between RCs...

This old Sears bike had a two speed 'transmission'... it would move along pretty good.

@Warby

This dude reminded me how on my nitro sport I drilled a hole to access the servo screw. I'm sure you know how many screws to get your bottom deck off. 🤣

I think it already has a hole. But thanks.
