Thank you @LittlemotorLooking great man! I’m enjoying your quality shots, and meticulously assembled parts! Very nice brotha!!![]()
What diameter is the spring perches on these anodized shocks? Can you get me that info, as well as the stock shock spring perch diameter? Pics of everything together would help too. All the shock parts you're working with. Why, thank you sir![]()

Plastic stock rears stocks (left), aluminium rear shocks (right).Pics of everything together would help too. All the shock parts you're working with.
Yes they are the stock original shocks so should be the "long" fronts and "xx-long" rears. And your stock shocks, are they the long and xx-long like the manual says? It's kinda funny the anodized ones are long and x-long instead of xx-long, according to the manual.
Only info i can find. I was assuming they were the same as the ultras even they look skinny. I have a pink spring and grey aluminum body that would fit. They were losi. Xxxt I think.I'm a bit confused with this one. Hopefully one of you old traxxas guru's can enlighten me.
I started assembling the new optional aluminium shocks I purchased.
TRAXXAS 4760: Shocks, Long, front (hard-anodized & PTFE-coated T6 aluminum) w/o spring
TRAXXAS 4761: Shocks, X-long rear (hard-anodized & PTFE-coated T6 aluminum) w/o spring
Note that they don't come with springs.

The original standard Shocks are the "Ultra shocks" which are the plastic housing shocks:
3760 front shocks, 2458 front springs
3762 rear shocks, 4457 rear springs
There is no listing for springs for the optional aluminium shocks, so I presumed the Ultra plastic shock springs would fit the aluminium shocks. I was wrong. They don't. They are too big in inside diameter. But I can't see what springs to use on the aluminium shocks.
So my questions are:
Here's the listings:
- What springs fit the aluminium shocks?
- Should I have purchased the other optional shocks, the Pro-level Big-bore shocks instead?
- Or do I use the spring and retainers(perch) from the plastic shocks, on the aluminium shocks?

Thanks for that. It's weird that the Nitro sport is not on that list but the aluminium shocks are on the Nitro sports optional parts list.Only info i can find. I remember seeing them too and wanting them. The above losi shocks were on my nitro sport when I got it. It used to be raced in kissimmee. That's why I never bought the trx ones. Thanks for that. E-clipsWhile we are waiting on more info on the springs for the aluminium shocks, I started rebuilding the standard Ultra shocks, as I'll use them on the second build.

Apart from the rusted shock rods, they are in okay condition. They weren't leaking and the rod ends are still tight.
New rods and seal kit:

The kit 2362 also does the big bore shocks so it has extra stuff.

I used Molykote 111 compound on the o-rings and the supplied Traxxas shock oil which I'm pretty sure is 30wt.

Rears. As you can see, the spring is too big for the aluminium anodized shocks perches.E-clips

Can you get me a pic of the anodized shocks with the 15.5mm springs on them and a good view if the spring perches? A front and rear? Apparently, you gotta draw these folks I am talking to a picture, because they are all saying the Ultra shock springs are what is supposed to be used.
Still waiting to hear back from Traxxas, from 2 different contacts there.
I am wondering if you don't need to go with a set of their TRX4 springs. But I can't imagine the spring rate will be correct, so maybe you need to go with some other springs off a vintage SCT or buggy.
Yes I noticed that the aluminium rears were only x-long but I didn't think that would be a problem as I was going to let it sit lower anyway.
That's plenty good man. If they can't clearly see those don't work, then they can clearly consider themselves to be morons, and they should stop talking to anyone in this hobby about RC stuff.Rears. As you can see, the spring is too big for the aluminium anodized shocks perches.

Give me a second to remove the fronts.
Yes the pistons. But the piston also has a spacer under it, so I guess the spacer. No droop screws.I am sorry, I missed this part Warby. Just thinking out loud here. What limits your lower A-arms downward travel? The shock pistons?
They should have done a similar bladder looking soft o-ring in the bottom assembly to cusion the shock. A sliver of fuel line tubing does the trick. But you're already shortening the travel. So you planning on driving this onroad mainly? Or at all? A bit lowerish and squatted on-road version would be pretty badass even if that is what this accidently turns out to look like. If displayed, it gives ya 2 options on the shelf.Yes the pistons. But the piston also has a spacer under it, so I guess the spacer. No droop screws.

It'll mainly going to be a shelf queen. I may try it on the road once but I'm going to keep it pretty. The second spare parts build will be the basher. So you planning on driving this onroad mainly? Cool bugAre we racing on the sand?View attachment 227024
Or on the asphault?

You know how hard it was to build this on the extended chassis of the Turbo Scorpion? Mentally taxing. Especially since I have loved this thing since I first saw it. But that extended chassis turned out badass on this one. It went from a sand dune buggy to a flat out chit and git drag racer, no matter the medium under it's feet.
So I'd be trying to display it with options![]()
Those bandit 2 2s will be too small imo. It'll mainly going to be a shelf queen. I may try it on the road once but I'm going to keep it pretty. The second spare parts build will be the basher.
I just thought it would look good sitting a little lowered but I'll see when it's done and on its boots.
I was actually considered buying some of the Traxxas 2478A Anaconda tyres for a road use option.

Ok, thanks for the heads up. Any other suggestions for 2wd onroad tyres? Those bandit 2 2s will be too small imo.
I'd put the Jato Anacondas on it. Those things, for whatever reason, are pretty good on even some dirt and grass. But killer on pavement. Aren't they 2.8 Chewy?
Copy that. ThanksYea the stadium truck ones for the rustler are 2.8 LPs.
