I've got a couple dirty nitros that need a deep clean.
I'm watching to see how your fancy new cleaning machine does against decades of slime! 😎👍
I'm keen to see how well it works too.

I get pretty good results with a 99% alcohol soak on metal stuff but I'd like to find something fast that requires less effort.
I don't like that half the 'black' plastic gets stained brown! 🤣

This looks like it might be a pretty straight forward resto! Not too much banged up too badly! 😎👍

I'm going to try simple green first in the ultrasonic cleaner. Not sure whats best to use on engine parts or plastic.

I used carby cleaner on the engine and it worked well. Don't use oven cleaner on cast aluminium. It cleans the dirt and crime off very well but reacts with the aluminium. The aluminium went almost black. Although I used it on the aluminium exhaust pipe and it was ok.

It's looking that way. A lot of cleaning to be done and replace all the rusty metal screws, rods and links etc. Plus I'll see what Traxxas bling I can find. Need new servos too. And a bearing set.

I've ordered 1 pair of new aluminium shocks (the og shocks are plastic) but I may rebuild a second set.

I've read that oven cleaner can pit the aluminum too. Gotta be careful to get the parts in and out, not much soak time.
The plastic is much harder for me to deal with than metal. I'm pretty good with a buffing wheel for aluminum and such.
Upgrading with all the fancy bits is my favorite part of restoring I think.
Sometimed bone-stock is the way to go but I really get a kick out of building old cars with new tech! 😁
Making the old buggies do new tricks is fun!!! 👍

I really hate you for this body. I had to buy the new style nitro rustler.
Surprised I found one. There was absolutely zero on ebay. Had to start searching on the Google and found 1.

They have any extras?
I just checked and it must have been the last one. Out of stock now. Sorry.

You can have mine when it arrives. Yours for only $300.

😆😂

Gearbox is out.

Slipper and brake is actually good. Think I remember replacing the slipper pegs and spur once.

Apart from the old grease, the gears look fine. No dirt got inside the case. No damaged teeth at first inspection.

Diff is all good too. From what I can see, I just needs a clean and new grease. I have actually prematurely ordered a new whole diff too. 🤦🏻‍♂️ oh well.

Did that clutch piece fit the spur?

I'm copying this dude. I have two of these bodies so the green gets on the nitro sport.
