Traxxas the way to go?

I haven't owned a 6S Arrma, but of the three 3S models I have owned, I wouldn't recommend any. In the 3S 4x4 models, Traxxas does it better, IMO. I now have six of those.
The 6S+ stuff is the bomb. The 4S and under not so much, at least not without hop ups. I own the 4S, 6S, and 8S Kratons. The 6S and 8S are just straight fire but the 4S Id never buy again. Maybe with hop ups I will learn to like the 4S Kraton.

If I was buiying a 1/10 scale Id go Traxxas. If 1/8 scale or bigger, Id go Arrma. I mean if thats the only two companies being considered.

I built mine from parts, but the Rustler 4x4 is a fun truck.

If you want too, I'd put the talon ext tires on there. The exts are probably more grippy and more aggressive than the regular stampede version talon tires. I have the exts on my rusty 2wd and they do great in the grass.

I own quite a few Traxxas vehicles, been good to me. Parts are everywhere, model support is among the best, meaning they continue selling parts for models longer than just about any other company. Pricey out of the gate, but parts are typically cheap. Steer clear of their batteries and chargers. Not that they're bad, just grossly overpriced. I buy batteries from Amazon mostly, at a third or less cost to the Traxxas batteries. If you don't mind paying the premium for the batteries and charger, they seem to perform well enough.. but the price! I refuse to buy them.
Arrma seems to have some nice 3/4s models, I haven't tried any though. I do have several 6 and one 8s Arrma, solid performers.

I have 5 Traxxas rigs. 4 Associated units and a couple Bolink pieces. Also an Axial or 2 and a RocHobby. You can get parts and support for Traxxas stuff about any hobby shop and even possibly NAPA!! Kidding.
I remember walking into a Pep Boys many years back and seeing a wall full of Traxxas parts, LOL! I had been out of the hobby for a while at that point, but I did laugh as what I remember was Traxxas being a joke in the nineties.. they have come a long way, though still a joke to many. I own several now, much fun.

Sweet! Do I spy Losi shocks? I put a set of Lasernut shocks on my Hoss, awesome! I bought a set of those Talons a few years back (JRC), off a Stampede I believe, terrible tires. Look cool, zero traction for me. Likely the worst tires I've ever used.

I haven't had any major issues with these tires, but once they wear out, I'll probably go with Trenchers.

It does have Losi shocks, as do all of my Traxxas 4x4s... and they all have the center diff instead of the slipper.

Glad to hear. I didn't mean to dis them, but I was quite disappointed by the Talons, just one man's experience.✌️
As to the Losi shocks, they are really good for the $35 I paid from a kit breaker for the set.. good shocks at a fraction of TRX upgrade cost.

I have no idea which batteries and charges to get. Should I get a Traxxas vehicle. Which charger and batteries do you recommend?

I said this earlier in the thread, but you obviously missed it. Hota D6 Pro for the charger. You're more than welcome to look for a better one. But you won't find one for the same money.

I myself like the ISDT and Hota chargers, batteries I'm less picky about. For ground rc's, most manufacturers recommend hard case for safety, but to my knowledge, Traxxas doesn't even make a hard case battery. So I wouldn't concern myself too much in regards. I use a mixture of both hard and soft case batteries. Most manufacturers other than Traxxas refer to the Traxxas proprietary connectors as simply TR connectors. It's a patent thing, which Traxxas is known for aggressively protecting, their rights to do so, not knocking them.
But I like CNHL, Hoovoo, Zeee, Sypom batteries. They're the least expensive, but perform quite well for stock rc's. A step up would be Gens, SMC batteries.

Well, there is the Gens imars, or an ISDT K2. Splitting hairs though, each of the 3 represent excellent value. I have a Hota S6, which is supposed to be a step up from the D6, but TBH, I would be content with any of the ones we've mentioned.

They do actually. It's a 2s 5200.35c lipo. But still you need a junk Traxxas charger with it.
Oof.. okay, didn't know. Sorry to hear, LOL.

I would avoid any "smart" batteries myself as they typically "trap" you into a singular brand. Traxxas and Spektrum are the two biggest offenders. If one doesn't mind paying 2 to 4 times as much money for the sake of simplicity, I guess it may be "worth it". My brother bought a bunch of Traxxas rigs, batteries and chargers about 4 years ago when getting back into the hobby. He regrets it now that he sees what he "could" be paying for batteries vs what he did pay.. Spektrum too, has a bunch of those too. However, as I said before, the Traxxas and Spektrum batteries perform okay and do last fairly well.

So with the batteries that I get, I have to make sure that they have a Traxxas connector?
If you're buying a Traxxas vehicle, yes. But, you can change the connector on the vehicle to whatever you want. Which will void your 30 day warranty.
I wouldn't concern myself personally, 30 days is a joke anyway. I have a Traxxas X-maxx, cut the connectors of first thing. I don't know your backround, or if you're comfortable with soldering or what. You can use adapters, most don't recommend adapters for running the vehicle, they can lead to problems and make for bulky wiring challenges that should be properly secured in use.

I had not seen that ISDT charger. They make great chargers as well. But I wouldn't spend the money on the Gens D300. It has a fairly average balance circuit. Not that it's that big of a difference, but it is noticeable. And it's Gens 😛

@Greywolf74 actually just tested the differences in charging with two different chargers with different balance current capability and it was worth noting that difference when shopping for a new charger.
