Hi, I am new to electric r/c cars and recently bought a 2nd hand Traxxas Sanp On Ford Focus limited edition.
I have charged the battery, put new batteries in the receiver, turned on the receiver and then the ez start.
I can turn the wheels from the receiver but cannot get the car to (forwards or backwards) - any suggestions or have I bought a dud?

Thanks

When you stated "receiver", are you actually meaning "transmitter"(the hand remote)?

From what I have been able to find it "looks" like a Traxxas Rally VXL.

From what you describe, the vehicle powers on, the transmitter is connected to the car because it responds to wheel inputs but no drive.

Check to ensure all the wires from the esc to the motor are connected.

It may be possible the transmitter and esc need to be programmed.

I'll attach the process for checking things over.

The EZ Start should be the receiver for Traxxas electric rc, if I recall.
EZ Start = electric starter motor on nitro models

EZ-Set = progamming button on receiver

If it is in fact nitro, we are going to need you to get an exhaust sample and mail it to traxxas.

😁

Seriously though... pictures of what you are describing will help us help you!

C'mon guys, he just said he is new to electric.

I would start by checking the throttle trim on the radio. If that doesn't work, try the info that @CreepyQuarryCrawler posted. Want to make sure you can get it going and have some fun.

welcome to RCT @gunner, did you buy the car new or used? if used that sounds like the motor wires weren't plugged correctly

also, you'd always want to power on the transmitter FIRST before the receiver/the car, else there's a risk of a rogue 40+ mph car going into someone's legs

Sorry, no it is electric and I should have said Ez set button
Honestly, Traxxas tech support is really good. They would be able to walk you through it over the phone. I've had nothing but great experiences with their tech support.

Welcome to RCTALK.COM!!!:cool::thumbs-up:😁

I prob could have helped you thru the nitro start but I have no idea on Traxxas EZ electric stuff.

There are lots of ppl here who know Traxxas veey well tho.

Does your manual have any bind or calibration process listed in it? If so, do that and test again.

Also, verify your batteries are 100% charged. AAs brand new... Those are #1, 1st step is always to verify power sources are good.

Good luck!!!🤞

Charged battery. Throttle trim in the middle. All motor wires connected. Press the power button on the esc while not holding the remote. Wait a few seconds. Look at indicator light. Describe what you see.
